However does one even start to make a list of top movie songs that everyone will agree with? After some contemplation, I've decided that making such a list is impossible. There will always be someone that that hates your guts because you left out their favorite song from their favorite movie.

The list below makes up, what I believe, are the top movie songs from primarily American cinema. I didn't put any kind of limit per movie restrictions because some movies have several great songs in them. The songs themselves are in bold while the movie and the artist(s) who performed the song follow. From time to time I may offer an opinion, which I'll put in italics.
