Planning weddings can be extremely stressful and expensive. Here are some tips that will help you to alleviate some of the stress and save some money. A wedding does not have to be an expensive and complicated event. A wedding should be a time for a couple to declare that they are in love and will spend the rest of their lives together. Wedding planning is not something that should cause extreme fighting and bickering between the couple.
10. Your Wedding
It is your wedding and you should do it your way. You and your partner should plan the wedding to be the way you both want it. Your friends and family can offer suggestions and advice; however when it comes down to it you need to do what you and your future spouse want to do and not worry about other people who say you are doing it wrong. Plan your wedding for you and not for what your mother wants.
9. Indoor Versus Outdoor Wedding
Many couples think they want to plan for an outdoor wedding; however numerous complications can arise including wind and rain. If you do decide to go ahead and plan an outdoor wedding then it would be very prudent for you to have a back-up plan in place in case the weather does not cooperate.
We often think of bad weather as interfering with outdoor weddings, but good weather can to. If it is extremely hot outside it can make it very dangerous for some of the elderly people in attendance that are more apt to suffer the ill effects of heat stroke. Selecting the right venue is very important to planning a wedding. Standing in a tuxedo or wedding dress when it is extremely hot is no fun at all.
It is more wise to spend less money on the wedding ceremony and more money on the honeymoon. Most couples will fight over money numerous times throughout their marriage; however you do not want to get back from your honeymoon and be broke.
Some people like to travel to Hawaii or some other exotic destination for their Honeymoon. Other couples may prefer something less traditional such as a week of camping and visiting National Parks. Don’t feel that you are your spouse have to go to Hawaii for a honeymoon if you both would rather go to a Dude Ranch.
7. Ring Bearer and Flower Girl
The Ring Bearer and Flower Girl are very important to a traditional wedding. It is not that the wedding cannot proceed without these 2 positions being filled; however it is very meaningful to the 2 children you select for these duties as well as their parents.
6. Who Will Perform the Ceremony?
Sometimes your religion will dictate who performs your wedding ceremony. Maybe you have a pastor at the church you are close with and have been attending church services with for many years. In this case the decision should be easy. For other couples deciding on who performs the wedding ceremony can be very stressful. Do you want a religious person to perform the services? If so do you want it to be non-denominational even though the person is of one religion? Do you have a family friend who could perform the services? Usually friends and family can make recommendations of which they would suggest and this can help you if you do not attend church regularly.
5. Bachelor Parties and Bachelorette Parties
Bachelor parties may or may not be a good idea. Sometime guys just get together to drink some beer and have some fun; however other guys may have very sinful ideas in mind when they decide to have a bachelor party. If the guy is allowed to have a bachelor party then the future bride is also allowed a bachelorette party. If you have ever been to a wild bachelorette party you know things can get much crazier than the guys parties ever do. The couple needs to agree on if they are going to have a bachelor parties and what the guidelines should be.
4. Wedding Size
Do you want to have an extremely large wedding where you invite everybody, even if you do not know them very well? Some people choose this option because they think that a larger wedding will make them seem popular; however the truth is this kind of sucks and can be more expensive. Save your money and time and simply invite your friends, family, coworkers, and acquaintances who you actually know. When a wedding line takes 4 hours for each person to come through and congratulate the couple then you can know that you definitely invited way too many people to your wedding.
You need to plan your wedding in such a way that you actually enjoy your wedding ceremony and reception. If you are constantly stressed out about getting every little detail just perfect than you will not enjoy your wedding day. A wedding should be enjoyable to the couple getting married and not simply a way to raise their blood pressure.
You want to hire a professional photographer to get as many quality pictures as possible. You also want to encourage your guests to bring their own cameras and to snap away. You may also want to buy a whole bunch of disposable digital cameras and leave them on the tables for the guests. Explain that they can use the cameras to snap pictures throughout the ceremony and reception and then to drop the cameras off at a designated spot. You will get a lot of cool and funny pictures you would not have gotten without the disposable cameras. This way you can get all of the pictures from the professional photographer as well as hundreds or thousands more from your guests who use the disposable digital cameras. You never know what snapshots will pop up when you upload these disposable digital camera images onto your computer.
1. It's the Bride's Day
Remember above when it was said that the couple needs to plan things together and do it their way? Well if the bride and groom cannot agree on how things should be planned or done then the woman wins. If a couple cannot agree on certain aspects of the wedding whether it be the color of the napkins or the specific venue used for the ceremony than the revert rule comes into play. If an agreement or compromise cannot be had then the decision reverts to the future bride. After all a wedding is more for the woman because guys tend to be more into the honeymoon.
