10 Crafts Using Paper Plates

If you are looking for crafts to do with your kids, look no further than your kitchen cabinet. There are so many crafts you can make with paper plates. Here are 10 of those great crafts.

1. Colorful Flower: For this project you will need:
-Paper Plate
-Green Paint
-Assorted Colors of Construction Paper
-Glue Stick
-Scissors
Paint the paper plate green. Cut large, different colored ovals from the construction paper. These will be your flower petals. Once the plate is dry, glue the petals all around the plate and let it dry.

2. Jack O’ Lantern: Make this craft to get your kids into the Halloween spirit. For this project you will need:
-Paper Plate
-Orange Paint
-Black Marker
Paint the plate orange and let it dry. Draw silly eyes, nose and mouth for your Jack O’ Lantern.

3. Santa Clause: Make this cute craft to add to the Christmas décor. For this you will need:
-Paper Plate
-Red Construction Paper
-Small bag of cotton balls
-Scissors
-Glue Stick
-Black Sharpie
-Red Crayon
Cut a large triangle out of the red construction paper to make Santa’s hat. Glue the hat to the top of the paper plate. Glue cotton balls across the bottom of the hat. Add one cotton ball on the top of Santa’s hat. Glue a beard out of cotton balls on Santa’s face. Give Santa eyes, a nose and a mouth with the black sharpie. Above Santa’s mouth, pull apart a cotton ball and glue it to make his mustache. Lightly use the red crayon to give Santa some rosy cheeks.

4. Animal Masks: Your child will love using their imagination and become their favorite animal.
Dog Mask: Paint a paper plate brown. Use a piece of brown construction paper to make floppy dog ears. Glue the ears to the side of the paper plate. Make big circles for the eyes and nose and give the puppy a red smiley mouth. Cut out the eyes and nose out. Punch a hole on the sides of the mask and tie a piece of yarn to the holes.
Cat Mask: Paint a paper plate black. Cut two small triangles out of black construction paper and glue them to the top of the plate for the cat’s ears. Make big circles for the eyes and nose. Use a white colored pencil and draw whiskers on the side of the nose. Make a pink smiley face. Cut out the eyes and nose. Punch a hole on the sides of the plate and tie a piece of yarn through it to hold the mask on your face.
Elephant Mask: Paint a paper plate grey. Use grey construction paper to make big floppy ears. Use a pink construction paper to make the inner ear. Glue the pink to the grey and then the grey onto the paper plate. Make big circles for the eyes and nose. Use another piece of grey paper and make a long trunk for the elephant and glue it right under the nose. Cut out the eyes and nose. Punch a hole on the sides and tie a piece of yarn through.

5. Artwork Folder: Hold all your little ones artwork in this convenient, easy to make folder. You will need:
-2 Paper plates
-Scissors
-Glue
-Markers
-Stickers
Take one paper plate and cut it in half. Take the other paper plate and lay it flat. Take the half plate and turn it over and glue it to the bottom half of the second plate. Write your own personal saying such as “My Artwork” and draw pictures or decorate with stickers.

6. Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer: For this project you will need:
-Paper plate
-Brown Paint
-Tan construction paper
-Black Marker
-Red Construction Paper
-Scissors
-Glue
Paint the paper plate brown. While it is drying, trace your child’s hands on the tan paper and cut them out. Glue the hands to the top of the paper to make Rudolph’s antlers. Make eyes and a nose with the black marker. Cut a red circle from the construction paper and glue it on as his nose.

7. Colorful Clock: For this project you will need:
-Paper Plate
-Purple Paint
-Markers
-Yellow foam piece
-metal fastener
-scissors
Paint the plate purple and let it dry. Color 12 different colored circles with the markers around the plate to be your numbers on the clock. Take a black marker and add the numbers inside the colored circles. Take the yellow foam piece and make two clock hands. Make a hole in both pieces and the middle of the plate and fasten all three with the metal fastener.

8. Heart Wreath: For this project you will need:
-Paper Plate
-Red foam piece
-White foam piece
-Pink foam piece
-Scissors
-Glue
Cut the middle of the plate out. Take the three foam pieces and cut out as many hearts as you can.. Glue the hearts in a pattern of red, white and pink all around the outer piece of the plate.

9. Maraca: For this project you will need:
-Paper plate
-Dried Rice or Beans
-Glue
-Stickers
-Markers
Lay the paper plate flat. Add rice or beans to the middle of the plate. Fold the plate in half and glue the two pieces together. Decorate with markers and stickers.

10. Birthday Party Decoration: For this project you will need:
-Paper Plate
-Red Paint
-Black marker
-Glitter
-Three colors crepe paper
-Ribbon
Paint the plate red and let it dry. Write “Happy Birthday” on the plate. Add glitter to the plate to make it shine. Cut three foot long pieces of crepe paper, each a different color. Glue them to the bottom of the plate. Punch a hole in the top and tie a piece of ribbon through it and hang up at your party.
