10 Infamous Hotels Where a Famous Celebrity Has Died

Joshua Tree Inn- Gram Parsons

Gram Parsons was made famous again among younger generation s when the movie Grand Theft Parsons starring Johnny Knoxville was released. Gram Parsons died at the Joshua Tree Inn in 1973 from an overdose of drugs and alcohol. The Joshua Tree in does not hide the fact that Gram Parsons died there. The motel actually advertises openly the room he died in as the “Gram Parson” room number 8. There is often a waiting list to reserve the room, so make your reservations early. Many other famous people including John Wayne liked to stay at the Joshua Tree Inn, but Gram Parsons is the reason this old motel is still in business.


Beverly Hilton Hotel- Whitney Houston

On February 11th, 2012, Whitney Houston was found dead in her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.


Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel- David Carradine


David Carradine may have been murdered. David Carradine may of committed suicide. There are a lot of theories floating around out there about his death but most experts believe that David Carradine died accidently from performing autoerotic asphyxiation.


Oasis Motel- Stu Ungar

One of the best Poker players ever in history was Stu Ungar. He died at the Oasis Motel in Las Vegas. The shabby motel is still available to rent a room in. Ungar abused cocaine throughout his life; however his death was attributed to be natural. Stu Ungar is also known as one of the best Gin Rummy players ever in history.


Lorraine Motel-Martin Luther King Jr.

The Lorraine Motel is where Martin Luther King, Jr was shot and killed by an assassin. For many years after King was killed, the motel operated as a weekly stay motel that catered to low income people, drug users, and prostitutes. Today the Lorraine Motel has been turned into a museum to honor the life of Martin Luther King, Jr and all of the positive advancements he made during his life to help people of all colors.


Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino- Anna Nichole Smith

In room 607 Anna Nichole Smith was found unresponsive. CPR was administered and then she was rushed to the hospital where she died. Although she technically didn’t die at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, this Hotel and Casino will always be infamous for the last location of Anna Nicole Smith before she died. The Seminole Rock Hotel and Casino is located in Hollywood, Florida.


Ambassador Hotel- Robert F. Kennedy

After winning the California Primary Robert F Kennedy, brother to the assassinated former President John F. Kennedy, was shot after a speech he have at the Ambassador Hotel. Robert F Kennedy was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to death the following morning. The Ambassador Hotel was demolished in 2005. The Ambassador Hotel was located in Los Angeles, California.


Landmark Hotel/ Highland Gardens-Janis Joplin

Singer Legend Janis Joplin died at the Landmark Hotel in room #105 at the young age of27. Her death was attributed to a heroin overdose. The Landmark Hotel in Los Angeles is now called the Highland Gardens.


Park Sheraton/Park Central Hotel- Albert Anastasia

The Park Sheraton in New York City is famous for 2 mobster deaths.  In 1957 Infamous gangster Albert Anastasia went to the barbershop located inside of the Park Sheraton Hotel. While sitting in the Barbers Chair 2 men rushed in and shot him to death. The Park Sheraton is now called the Park Central Hotel.

Another famous mobster who was shot at the Park Sheraton is Arnold Rothstein. He died the day after he was shot in the hospital.
