10 Of The Worst Cities To Live In Oregon

There are really no bad places to live in Oregon but for certain reasons some of the cities in Oregon qualify as some of the worst cities in Oregon. Oregon is filled with  state parks and in fact has 231 of them comprising 95,463 acres with 780,000 acres of forests along with a large river system making it ideal for hikers, fishermen, river related sports, RV trippers, and of course the Pacific Ocean which is its western border. So there are lots of choices of to live in Oregon however there are a few of the worst cities in Oregon to live too.

1) Medford

Medford is probably the medical hub of Southern Oregon so it seems to have loads of medical offices and hospitals and medical specialists. As a result the roads are always clogged during the week making it one of the worst cities in Oregon due to the heavy traffic patterns. It is also a destination for people looking for all of the chain restaurants which all seem to be located in one or two areas of Medford which again makes for a terrible traffic situation and therefore it is one of the worst cities in Oregon to live.

2) Grants Pass

Grants Pass is one of the best cities in Oregon but in some ways it is also one of the worst cities in Oregon to live because it has two main streets both are one way streets that anyone in the south of Grants Pass must traverse to get to the north of town or back to the south of town. And each one way street seems to have a traffic light at each cross street which further clogs up the traffic making it one of the worst cities in Oregon traffic wise. And everyone from scooters to semi trucks has to traverse them. Further there are only a few roads across the Rogue River which also limits traffic choices making it a poor traffic-wise worst cities in Oregon.

3) Cave Junction

Cave Junction is a small town which is one of the worst cities in Oregon because it is the junction to the Oregon Caves which means that most traffic has to pass through Cave Junction to get to the Oregon Caves which are a major tourist attraction making it one of the worst cities in Oregon to live. It is home to the Taylor’s Sausage Factory which has made its own sausages since 1924 and it is the location of Taylor’s Country Store and meat market which means you can pop in and get excellent meats and sausages every day which makes it not one of the worst cities in Oregon.

4) Rogue River

This is a small town just off Interstate 5 which sees a lot of tourist traffic because of its location on the Rogue River so traffic wise and visitor wise it is one of the worst cities in Oregon. It also sees a large number of RV’s which take up much of the town’s main roads making it one of the worst cities to live in Oregon especially if you are out for a Sunday drive.

5) Klamath Falls

This city is one of the worst cities in Oregon to live if you hate the cold as this city sits at 4,099 feet above sea level making it the worst cities in Oregon to live because of the cold weather.

6) Canyonville

Canyonville is one of the worst cities in Oregon to live if you don’t enjoy Indian gambling casinos and the traffic it brings through town. Seven Feathers Casino opened in 1992 as the Cow Creek Bingo Hall and today is a 600,000 square foot casino that brings in over one million visitors a year. And the town of Canyonville has one major street with the casino at the northern end of town making it one of the worst cities in Oregon. However the main road is home to quite a few cute antique and collectible shops making it an antiquer’s dream.

7) Galice

Galice Resort is the mainstay of this town which is a destination city for many rafters making it one of the worst cities in Oregon to live.

8) Merlin

Merlin is a small charming city that is on the way to many Oregon State Parks including Galice on the main route from Interstate 5 is through Merlin which makes it one of the worst cities in Oregon during the rafting season. Merlin is located along the Rogue River which has many rafting companies who rent out these rafts along with guided tours so the main street during the summer season is filled with rafts rental companies and a whole lot of traffic and people hauling around rafts making it one of the worst cities to live in Oregon.

9) White City

White Cities claim to fame is that it served as a hospital to Camp White during WWII. It also has the Camp White Museum, home to many military artifacts.  Camp White was an Army training camp during WWII and also was a POW camp at that time. White City is at the junction of Oregon Route 62 and Oregon Route 140 at the northern end of Medford on the way to Crater Lake so it sees a lot of traffic congestion making it one of the worst cities in Oregon. It is only 1.85 square miles much of it is home to the VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center.

10) Union Creek

Union Creek is located in the Rogue River National Forest and is host to multiple winter sports activities making it one of the least desirable cities in Oregon to live as it is often covered with snow and very cold as it is just 23 miles from Crater Lake National Park. It is a secluded setting which much natural beauty which attracts many tourists and traffic year round making it one of the worst cities in Oregon and one of the worst cities in Oregon to live.

I've never been to Oregon, but if I must ever venture that way, I'll be sure to watch out for these cities ;) :)
