This time of year seems to renew my spirit. Despite the lines and lines of people everywhere I look, it makes me feel better about my fellow man to see people out doing something for someone else. It's the simple things that are the most fun.

#10. Pies!

Apple, Pumpkin, Pecan, Chocolate; I could go on and on. We have birthday cake year round and candy at both ends of the year (Valentines day to Halloween). Somehow it just doesn't seem right to eat pie except for that month or so from Thanksgiving to Christmas.

#9. Christmas Music

There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found because I'm simply having a wonderful Christmas time! Chestnuts roasting on an open fire means Rudolph and I had very shiny noses! But you better watch out, you better not cry, because all is calm, all is bright! I know I'm going a little fast here but I can't help it.

#8. Pumpkin Spice creamer from coffee-mate

It's probably a good thing they don't make this year round since I'd most likely get tired of it, but around Christmas it helps get close to that perfect cup of coffee I've been searching for all my life.

#7. Noel Vanilla Bean triple moisture body cream

When you can find it! My wife likes this better than perfume so lets get with it Bath and Body Works. At least make enough so everyone can get some before Christmas. For every one "warm sugar and vanilla" person I'd bet there are 4 "Vanilla Bean" people. Serve the bigger tribe here. I should note that I did find it on their web site after Christmas.

#6. The wonderful food

We don't always do the traditional meals of Turkey or Ham in my family. One year we had Barbeque with barbeque baked beans. No matter what the fare, it's always great and never fails to leave me in need of a good workout routine for new years resolution.

#5. Bowl Games

Yes, we've established that I have a wife. I am a guy and football is in my DNA. There is not much better than watching a good football game with an almost perfect cup of coffee. What makes these games special is both the level of play and the fact that these are usually teams that don't play each other.

#4. Christmas Movies

It's A Wonderful Life is still one of my favorites despite having seen it more times than I can count. Which side of the fence do you fall on in A Christmas Story? I root for Ralphie to get the Red Rider BB gun. You'll have watch the movie to find out if he does.

#3. Decorating the Christmas tree

We theme our tree. The past few have been teddy bear themed. Not only is the decorating fun but the yearly scavenger hunt for new bear ornaments is becoming a fun family tradition.

#2. Time spent with family and friends

The busier my life gets the more I cherish the small amount time I get with my extended family. I know it shouldn't take the Holidays get together with everyone but life is so fast these days. It just takes something like the Christmas season to force us all to slow down and remember what is important in life.

#1. The reason for the season

We give gifts to each other, not only to see the joy on the little children's faces or even the joy on the adults faces, but to imitate the gift given to us by Jesus. Peace on earth, good will towards men. We know that the holidays are special. Don't forget why.
