Big MacThe world-renouned Big Mac started it all. It's fatty 540 calories have been plastered on TV and print advertisements for more than 40 years. Invented in 1967, the Big Mac is a symbol of American capitalism. Economists have famously used the sandwich to study the cost of living in various places around the globe. It's truly the king of fast food burgers.

But did you know that the Big Mac is a measly twerp by today's standards? 540 calories with 10g of saturated fat and 1.5g of trans fat…is that all you got Mr. Big Mac?

McDonald's....the healthy choice!

Conclusion

McDonald's seems to be getting a bad rap when compared to the other burger boys. They don't have a single burger over 800 calories, but Burger King, Wendy's, Carl's Jr., and Hardees have several that make the cut (I left many of them out). I personally believe that McDonald's is afraid of healthcare lawsuits and prefers to lay low, sticking to a tad healthier menu than the other burger joints.

Probably the most obvious point to take away from the list is to avoid any burger with bacon. They are all loaded with calories and trans fat.

Confession: I'm dying for a burger after writing this. =)
