There are many Christmas Movies out there. Some such as "Bad Santa" are very funny movies but not suitable for family viewing. Here is a list of my top 12 Christmas Movies that are suitable for kids and adults alike.

Polar Express

The Polar Express is a movie that kids can watch over and over. This feel good holiday movie has great looking computer generated animations that kids just love.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

A Charlie Brown Christmas is an annual tradition for many families. It was first shown on TV in 1965. Multiple generations of kids have grown up watching this each year on TV. Kids like A Charlie Brown Christmas and it also allows adults to reminisce about when they were a child watching Snoopy and his friends while sitting on the green shag carpet at grandmas house sipping on Hot Cocoa.

Miracle On 34th Street

Miracle On 34th Street is the Christmas movie that proves Santa Claus is real. It is perfect for kids and adults of all ages. Miracle on 34th Street is a true Christmas movie classic that is timeless.

Elf

Elf stars Will Ferrell who plays the role of "Buddy". Buddy climbs lives in an orphanage as a baby and one year he climbs into Santa's bag and ends up back at the North Pole. Buddy is raised by Elfs. Buddy thinks he is an Elf but he struggles at making toys. He overhears the other elf's talk about how he is not a real elf but instead a human and Buddy is shocked at this.

Buddy learns who is real father is and decides to visit him in New York City. Of course Buddy has never been around any humans since he was a child. He's only been around Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and the Elf's. When Buddy arrives in New York City he is dressed as an Elf and acts like an Elf which leads to some very funny scenes in this Christmas movie.

Smoky Mountain Christmas

Smoky Mountain Christmas stars Dolly Parton and Lee Majors. This Christmas Movie was directed by Henry Winkler. It also features a role played by the late John Ritter. This film has become a cult classic among many families for Christmas viewing.

What I Did For Love

What I Did For Love is a very underrated and rarely seen Christmas movie. It was a made for TV movies that is broadcast on the Hallmark channel each year. The premise of the movie is the rich city slicker goes with his fiancee back to the ranch she grew up on for the Holidays. He is not accepted by the family and he has no skills for living a "western" lifestyle. He struggles togain their acceptance.

What I Did For Love is a very funny Christmas movie with a heartwarming ending. Perfect for the entire family.

It's a Wonderful Life

It's A Wonderful Life is a must see for any family that has not already shared this Christmas movie classic with their children. Most kids enjoy this movie. Kids also like to make fun of their parents for getting watery eyes at the end of the movie. With the current economic situation in our country this movie will help remind you of what is really important during the Christmas season.

Christmas Comes To Willow Creek

Christmas Comes To Willow Creek stars Dukes Of Hazzard stars John Schneider and Tom Wopat. John Schneider and Tom Wopat play two brothers who do not like each other. They are forced to drive a truck to Willow Creek Alaska to take food, supplies, and gifts to the people of Willow Creek Alaska who havehit upon hard times. This movie features it all. Some comedy, some crying, a Christmas miracle, and many feel good moments. A dysfunctional family made functional.

A Christmas Story

A Christmas Story is the must see Christmas film for kids each year. This movie also teaches important lessons to kids such as "don't stick your tongue on a metal flag pole in the heart of winter time".

The main character wants a Red Rider BB Gun. The movie is famous for everything from the flagpole incident to the lamp his dad owns. No need to explain this Christmas movie has you have already seen it. If you have not already seen it then you are the only one in this country who has not watched this cute Christmas Flick.

Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas

Jim Carrey stars in the Dr Seuss classic "How The Grinch stole Christmas". Jim Carrey is an amazing actor and his voicing in this Christmas movie only contributes to the veracity of his acting skills.

Home Alone

Home Alone has been a Christmas Movie staple in many homes since it was first released into theaters in November of 1990. Macaulay Culkin stars as Kevin McCallister who is accidentally left home as his family flies overseas for Christmas. Kevin fights to keep his home safe from two burglars who are intent on breaking into the home.

Year after year families watch this movie and laugh each time.

The Santa Clause

The Santa Clause stars Tim Allen who plays a role as Scott Calvin. Scott Calvin ends up trying on Santa Claus's suit and then Scott becomes contractually obligated to be Santa. Scott and his son end up at the North Pole and meet the elves. The next morning Scott wakes up and thinks it was all just a dream but over the next year Calvin slowly comes to the realization he is Santa Claus. He gains a lot of weight and his hair turns gray. His ex wife and her husband believe Scott is "off his rocker" and keep Scott from being able to visit his son.

The Santa Clause is a very funny movie for people of all ages. This movie is easily watched year after year by families who never get tired of laughing at this Christmas movie.

I loved the Polar Express. Saw it first when I was 7 months pregnant, and since then watch it on every TV rerun with my son. He loves the story.
I thought The Santa Clause was also hilarious. Love the way Tim acts.

A couple of these I have not seen but you mention the classics that I love and have seen many times. I would sure loike to see movies return with more heart and less brawn but I guess that's...wishful thinking. Anyway 2 big stars up
