13 Fun Things To Do This Weekend

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 1 1

Sure, this weekend you have plenty of things to do. You have to vacuum, do the dishes, pick up the place, and make dinner. However, why not take some time to do something that is actually, you know, fun!

You probably work hard all week at your job or making sure your kids get everywhere on time, why not take this weekend to do something a little more fun and relaxing. Of course, everyone's interests very so everything on this list may not exactly be fun for everyone.

friends

Visit an Old Friend

You know the one. The friend that moved a couple hours away after college or after they got married, why not go pay them a visit. I am sure they would be glad to reconnect with you. Just make sure you call ahead of time so you don't catch them unaware or while they are out.

Test Drive Your Dream Car

You don't need to be a millionaire to experience your dream car. Test drives are free. Go into a car dealership, pretend like you are interested, and take it for a test drive. The car salesman might be a little peeved when you leave without buying something, but you got your kicks.

Play a Board Game

Playing a board game, when you talk about it, sounds about as exciting as vacuuming. However, once you actually get playing with your friends or kids, it usually turns out to be a lot of fun. It is also a great way to bond and spend time with those you care about. Maybe grab your kids or your friends and go to the store to buy a board game if you do not have any, there are a lot of great new games out there as well as great classics.

Teach Yourself How to Knit or Crochet

Sure, you will not become a master in either knitting or crocheting over the course of one weekend, but you can get the basics of it. Learn the basics, work on a few patterns, maybe even get your kids involved. Knitting and crocheting are great hobbies if you just want to turn your brain off for awhile. If your kids are not really into learning, teach them how to crochet a chain and see who can make the longest one.

Bake Some Homemade Bread

Making homemade bread isn't just for homesteaders and Amish women, it is really quite simple to do. Some people choose to pick up a fancy bread maker, but it is simple to do by hand. Once you taste homemade bread you will be utterly shocked by the taste. it is so much more refreshing than store bought bread. It is the kind of stuff that you can put a little butter on and have a fantastic snack.

desserts

Make a Dessert

Because of the general unhealthiness of sugar and sweets, people have cut dessert out of dinner time completely. What you need to understand is that dessert is a sometimes thing. Really brighten up your day and the day of your family by whipping up a quick dessert for the afternoon (tea party!) or after dinner. A quick, tasty, and easy dessert is some pudding topped with a little whip cream.

Make a How-To Youtube Video

Creating a passive income doesn't have to be a full time commitment, you do not even have to write to do it. If you have a skill or are taking on a DIY project, make a video of it. Pretend like you have your own show and walk your viewers through the process step-by-step. Upload it to YouTube and monetize it. if it is useful, viewers and money will come.

Seduce Your Partner

Is your partner the one that usually does all the seducing or have you been fighting a little more than usual? Spend a few hours with them. Be the one to start the seduction and give your partner a treat by doing most of the work. A lot of relationship problems and stress can be unraveled by spending a few hours in each others arms.

Have a Bonfire / Cookout

Depending on where you live, have a bonfire. If you live in the city, have a cookout or small bonfire. However, if you live in the country, tell all your friends to bring their own beer and have a little bonfire in your backyard. Use this as an excuse to do some yard clean up. Pick up all the fallen branches and sticks around your yard and make a big old fashioned bonfire.

blanket fort

Build a Blanket Fort

In my opinion, you are never too old to build a blanket fort. If you have kids, at least you have an acceptable excuse to do it. Grab some blankets, some chairs and whatever else you think would make for a good fort and start building. Maybe even watch a movie or sleep in it after you are done. It's a great way to involve the whole family. Just try not to stress over cleaning up the mess.

Learn a Card Trick

Everyone should learn at least one card trick that you can whip out and impress people at parties or when you are bored. Focus on just one trick at first and become really good at it. This may lead to a fantastic hobby. This is something you can practice by yourself or with others.

Sharpen Your Kitchen Knives

Maybe I am the only one who finds sharpening kitchen knives really relaxing and fun. This is something useful you can do while watching television. Just be careful, sharp knives are sharp. This is useful for your weekday life as well. You will find that with a sharp knife, your cooking becomes much quicker with less fuss. Though you may want to keep in mind that the sound of steel on a whetstone really quite annoys some people.

Play a Tower Defense Games

One can lose hours of time to playing free little games on the internet. I have found that I lose the most time with Tower Defense games. Almost all of them are free and loads of fun. You will just get enthralled trying to constantly get on to the next round. It is also a great way to exercise your brain with strategy. You can find a lot of good ones here.
