How many reasons could a person find to justify a trip to New York? I would say about ten thousand and more. New York is the center of our modern world. Every little thing that defines our contemporary lifestyle and culture first takes place there, in New York, and, only after its 'premiere' on the stage of this roaring capital of our world, the phenomenon is ready to spread worldwide. When I say 'every little thing' I mean everything! Whether it is for good or for bad!

One of the elements composing this whole 'everything' contemporary universe is the New York International Auto Show. One might argue, though, that the New York International Auto Show is not the only gathering of car aficionados worldwide. However, what's special about the New York International Auto Show is that it holds a very special place in the calendar of auto shows and definitely a privileged position if the agenda of any auto shows addict. This year, the show took place in full blossom starting with the 29th of March, lasting through till the 7th of April. As for the cars – the main focus of attention at the New York International Auto Show 2013 -, one must know that there were around one thousand of them, all exhibited, presented and ready to be explored! Not bad at all! And no wonder there were so many, since we're talking about New York and setting the trends for the next car season!

The New York Auto Show opened its doors for the first time back in 1900. The event surely stands for what one might call a long and triumphant history! The beautiful people of the auto industry (one of the most profitable and prestigious industries worldwide at the moment) gathered in New York for yet another year in order to present to the world the brand new models and all of the latest trends on the market.

The New York Auto Show was America’s first ever automotive exhibition. Up until today, it is one of the largest and yet most significant auto shows in the world, not only due to a tradition that has been set, but also due to what is going on during the New York Auto Show. Apart from the presentation of brand new car models, a series of special events take place. There are plentiful of symposiums, conferences, industry forums, award ceremonies and, of course, parties that take place. With all these networking opportunities and glamorous events, for sure all participants get well informed and entertained, also. However, what sets the agenda is the debut of the brand new cars that are to be seen for the first time worldwide during this Auto Show in particular. Let’s take a quick look at some of the brightest new entries on the auto market in 2013.

Even though the Honda Odyssey minivan made quite an impression on the audience, my take would be that the majority of people present there, at the New York Auto Show 2013, were dazzled by the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. Along with that, the MINI Clubvan is a brand new entry which surely brings a distinguished style and an urban attitude to the commercial supply sector. Car finance deals from MINI also brings the guarantee that buying a new Mini car is nothing too complex or out of the ordinary. What is more, though, to the New York Auto Show of this year is that the Volvo V60 (which made it to the top three finalists for the 2013 world green cars competition) also triggered an interest for customers having some environmental concerns. On the other hand, the Jeep Cherokee (which has its fan base since many years now) occupied the interest of most of those who like to roll on four wheels only and would never give it up. The Porsche 911 GT3 satisfied the desire of car enthusiasts for a powerful classy car that would never disappoint you. But there was more to the New York Auto Show of 2013!

The Luxury Range

Luxury was this year’s unofficial theme for the New York Auto Show. And we all know that luxury could very well be the synonym of … Jaguar, for instance. Two world debuts marked this year’s show: the Jaguar XJR and the Jaguar XKR-S GT. These two new Jaguar patterns stole the attention of all those interested in powerful luxurious cars. Even if most of us – mere mortals - could not possibly afford such horse-power, it doesn’t really matter! After all, 'A thing of beauty is a joy forever!', whether you own it or not.

It’s not a secret to anyone that, in the majority of the auto shows held worldwide, there are car brands like Lamborghini and Ferrari that monopolize the attention. To a certain extent, the interest of the participants was drawn in those specific directions as well. However, there was plenty to be displayed and plenty of room for everyone. There was surely plenty of room for luxury, since we are actually talking about NY as display stage!

So now you know: if you love cars, engines, horse-power and car design more than anything else and plan to visit New York sometime in the future, remember that the New York International Auto Show will be keeping its doors open year by year, whether you will be wearing your black tie or not!
