20 Reasons Why I Should Go To College

By Edited Oct 11, 2016 2 2

I you're wondering, what are the reasons why I should go to college, there is plenty to consider. This is a big commitment, lasting anywhere from 2-8 years, or more. In addition, there is plenty of expense to consider with continued education, like loans that must be paid back. Still, in general, the pros greatly outweigh the cons for continued education in today's world. So, if you're wondering, what are the reasons why I should go to college, you may want to consider some of these things.

1. Make more money: Okay, I know this is the most obvious reason why I should go back to college for many considering it, but it is probably the most important, too. There is tons of statistical data to support these claims.

2. Become more independent: Nobody wants to be 30 years old and still borrowing money from their parents, or worse, still living at home. With the terrible job market, this isn't too hard to see happening.

3. Better lifestyle: When wondering, what could be the reasons why I should go to college, a better lifestyle should certainly be on your list. Would you like to be able to buy a boat, ATV, or any other item that intrigues you? Most of us want something from time to time. Many older students are going back to school to secure a better lifestyle.  Since you can get free money to go back to school, it's easy to see how much difference it can make.

4. Become more employable: Not only can you earn more money after going back to school, but you will also find many more doors that open up for you. As fields phase out, those with a degree, even if in a very specialized field, should have more luck finding other forms of work. When looking at reasons why I should go to college, this should be near the top of the list.

5. Impact future generations: The reasons why I should go to college could include your family history. If very few have been able to go back to school, perhaps you can be the one to break the cycle, which will help siblings and future generations of your family succeed.  If you don't think you can afford it, check it how to get a degree for $100 a month.

6. New beginnings: If I were looking at reasons why I should go to college, I would consider the appeal of a new beginning. If you're stuck in a rut or unhappy, going to school could get you on the right track.

7. More flexibility: With online schools, there is more flexibility than ever before. This could be a great reason why you should go to college. Those with other commitments, like families, will generally appreciate the more flexible scheduling of today's schools.

8. Shorter commitments: If you don't want to go to school, but you feel you must, consider a trade school or technical school. You can often get a degree in one or two years. While you may not see as much monetary benefit as you would from a four year degree, you will make more than you would with no education. Shorter terms are one of the reasons why I should go to college.

9. Meet business contacts: You will get to know people that you could end up working with down the road. This could help you out in business. Meeting future business contacts could be one of the many reasons why you should go to college. You will be networking while going to school, which can really help you out down the road.  You can get school loans even if you have bad credit.

10. Make friends: You will meet plenty of new people when going to school. Some of the friendships you make will last forever. When wondering, what are the reasons why I should go to college, friendship is something to consider.

11. Night life: Partying and socializing should not be the top reasons why you should go to college, but many people do consider them when they decide on going to school. Maybe this will help you get an education.

12. Figure out goals: This may seem off to some, but many don't know what they really want to be or do when they go to school. Once you go, you may be able to figure it all out more accurately. When considering reasons why I should go to college, this was among the most important.

13. Travel: Not only will you be more likely to afford traveling opportunities, but you also may have some chances to travel for some of your school classes or organizations you join.

14. Meet someone special: When looking at reasons why I should go to college, meeting that special someone may be on your list, depending on your situation.

15. Retire younger: You will earn more money and learn life skills along the way. Retiring earlier and more comfortably is one of the many reasons why I should go to college.

16. Clubs and sports: Reasons why should go to college could include joining clubs or competing in sports. This can be fun and should be considered as one of the many reasons why I should go to college.

17. Make your parents proud: When looking at reasons why you should go to college, you may want to consider making you parents and other loved ones happy. You don't have to be a mamma's boy to want to make your parents proud of you.   Plus, you may be able to get a free laptop for students.

18. Create memories: When looking at reasons why you should go to college, you may want to simply think about the memories you will make.

19. Put off growing up: Yes, you will need to be mature to make it through school and earn your degree, but you can put off growing up for a little while longer when going back to school.

20. Chase the American Dream: The American Dream is alive and well, but if you don't have an education, it's much harder to achieve. You can and should give yourself every opportunity possible to succeed and chase your dreams. This is among the biggest reasons why I should go to college. Go after your dreams.

When wondering, what are the reasons why I should go to college, you would come up with hundreds of reasons, not just twenty. I hope you make the right decision.

lol....considering this is an article about college, thought I should point this out...

"I you’re wondering"

Should be:

"If you’re wondering"

I know I'm not always perfect with spelling myself...lol....just thought that might be a subtle turn-off to people who land here via Google...
