3 Day Diet Review: Pros and Cons Of The Three Day Diet Plan

By Edited Dec 30, 2015 0 0

Before You Do The 3 Day Diet, Think About Heathier Options

The 3 Day diet is often mistakenly referred to as the 3 day Cleveland Clinic diet. Why, no one really knows, however, Cleveland Clinic does not advocate this 3 day diet and says it's folklore. It's basically a crash diet or what many call "yo yo" dieting.  This diet is also referred to as the 3 day tuna diet depending on what part of the world your are from. There are other diets that will allow you to lose 10 lbs in 3 days that are more nutritious than this one and you should consider some of those options.

What Does The Plan Consist of?

The 3 day diet consists of severe calorie restriction. SEVERE CALORIE RESTRICTION!  Hopefully you are just thinking of doing this diet for three days in order to lose weight quickly to jumpstart a new diet plan, because this diet is not something that you should do long-term or often.  The combination of the foods listed below is supposed to increase metabolism and burn fat faster. This diet has been around since 1985 and with the Internet, it has been reintroduced back into the dieting community.

**This is pretty much the standard 3 day diet no matter what source you use.**

Pros

  • Quick weight loss

Cons

  • Severely deprives the body of vital nutrients and calories
  • Quick weight loss could result in rapid weight gain once you return to your normal diet
  • The use of Sweet  & Low or Equal is controversial because of the health risks involved in their use. For example, Equal is derived from Aspartame.
  • Not friendly to vegetarians or vegans
  • Very short on good fat that your body needs in order to operated properly (even for 3 days)
  • Inaccurately associated with the Cleveland Clinic giving people the false impression that Cleveland Clinic sanctions this diet
  • No one knows where this diet came from or who introduced it or how the combination of foods is supposed to burn fat so that you lose 10 lbs in 3 days. Very little is known about this fad diet's origin and effectiveness

Overall Conclusion

This diet is dangerous to continue beyond the three days or to do repeatedly.  I believe it's even dangerous to do once, however, the choice is yours to make.  If you are going to do this diet, I suggest you talk with your doctor first and also have a real diet plan ready so you can ease into it after you've done the initial 3 days to jumpstart your system.  Your body needs calories, protein, fats, vitamins and minerals to survive. This diet just comes up short on all of them. Be very careful with this one.

Is It For Me?

Whether you should do the three day diet is up to you of course, however PLEASE consider the fact that this is a temporary fix and that you should not keep putting your body through this type of quick weight loss with this severe amount of calorie restriction. If you are extremely overweight, you should talk with your doctor before doing anything like this.  Perhaps you may want to try the The Fat Flush Diet Soup Plan, which allows you to lose 10 lbs in 3 days but the menu is much more substantial and your are getting good fats and good nutrients.  This diet is scary, in my opinion.
