3 Great Halloween Party Themes

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Halloween parties are the most fun ever.  I mean where else can you dress up in a costume and just have fun?  You can dress in a costume that is cute or scary.  The choice is yours.  So make this year your best Halloween yet with these 2 great Halloween party themes.

Black and Orange Party

This is an easy Halloween party to put together.  That is because everything from the invitations to favors are all done in black and orange.

You can do handmade invitations by using black and orange construction paper.  Add the black confetti to the envelope.  Make sure you let your guests know that this is a black and orange party so they can come in their best black or orange costumes.

Go to your favorite Halloween store and find a welcome sign that is black and orange.  Place this over the doorway to greet your spooky friends.  Lower the lighting in the entire house.  Use candle if you can to make a scarier effect.  Place a vase of black and orange roses on the tables throughout the house.  From the ceilings, hang black and orange balloons and streamers.

Of course not party would be complete without Halloween music.  You want some good ole fashion music for this party.  Terrifying songs include Dandy of the Furries by Gluck and A Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky.

Sprinkle orange and black confetti around the serving tables.  Use black eating utensils and orange paper plates and napkins for an added Halloween effect.  The food at your party can be either a full blown meal with a rack of lamb and sweet potatoes to simple Hors d’oeuvres such as stuffed mushrooms, shrimp cocktail and cheese and crackers.  If your guests are over the age of 21, try a great drink called Vodka Jack.  It is made with vodka, pumpkin juice and orange juice.

Before your guests leave for the night, send them off with a great goody bag.  Use traditional Halloween bags and fill them with Halloween candy.

Spider Party

This is a fun party, especially for kids but a great adult party as well.

You can create you won invitations on black stock paper.  Don’t forget to include the spider web.  You can also use Spiderman invitations for this party.

Imagine how cool it would be to have all your guests in some kind of spider themed costumes?  Have them dress as a spider, a spider web (easy to make with a black suit with a spider web painted on in white florescent paint), a tree with spider webs, a fly or Spiderman.

Well since it is a spider party, you need lots of spider webs throughout the house.  Scatter fake spiders throughout the webs.

The perfect entertainment here is not music but spider movies.  Watch cool movies such as Spiderman, Arachnid and Spiders.

The Zombie Invasion Party

With all the latest hoopla over zombies, what would Halloween be without a zombie party?

Who in the world doesn’t want to be a zombie for a night?  Dressing as a zombie isn’t as complicated as it looks.  Take some old, raggedy clothes, grey makeup and some messed up hair and voila, you look like you could be an extra on The Walking Dead.  To touch things up, use some gray hair spray to make you look like you just stepped out of a grave.

The perfect centerpiece for a zombie party would be a large clear or silver bowl filed with body parts like legs, hands and brains.  These can be found in most costume stores.  Fill the party area with green and black helium balloons and replace the light bulbs with green ones.

Make some vanilla pudding and add green grapes to it.  You can also make jell-o brain molds and green apple punch served in a skeleton punch bowl.  And of course, you can serve your normal party food like chips, dip and veggie sticks.

No zombie party would be complete without dark Goth music.  Check out acts like Midnight Syndicate and Nox Arcana.  If you will have dancing at the party, you will need to turn up some new wave music to get the party going into high gear.

Zombie movies playing all night long are perfect for this party.  Of course nothing beats an original so “Night of the Living Dead,” “Return of the Living Dead” and “Dawn of the Dead” are all excellent choices.

The sky is the limit when it comes to party themes for Halloween.  Try a Dead Celebrity Party, a Graveyard Party or a movie themed party like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Movie Party.  You should have your party anytime in October but the closer to Halloween night, the better.  Of course, have it at night or as close to dusk as possible.  The party can last anywhere from 2-3 hours.  This is enough time for the guests to mingle, eat, drink and play games.

Decorations that enhance the party include a fog machine, ghosts and skeletons positioned throughout the party area and scary, creepy music.  For the food, buffet style works best for this type of party so guests can eat at their convenience.

Oftentimes Halloween parties are much more memorable and enjoyable if you use a theme. Halloween themes to not have be traditional Halloween themes either. You can choose to have corpse bride Halloween theme where the women dress up as bloody brides.

There is an unlimited amount of different themese you can use for Halloween. You could even combine holidays for a theme such as an Early Christmas Halloween party and then dress up as a Sant Claus zombie.

Use you imagination and come up with an entrely new theme for your next Halloween party and then you will have the time of your life. Themed Halloween parties are super-awesome fun and I highly suggest you throw one the next time Halloween rolls around.
