3 Hair Removal Methods and Their Advantages

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Many people do not realize that there are dozens of different hair removal methods available these days. Some are at-home hair removal methods, while others require that you visit a salon. This guideline will focus on three of the most popular hair removal methods and their advantages. If you would like to purchase any of the products that are mentioned in this guideline for hair removal, check out stores like Folica and Drugstore.com.

1. Shaving

Of course, shaving is the most popular type of hair removal method. You can use a razor or an electric shaver to remove hair from your body. If you are using a traditional razor blade, you will need to use some sort of shaving cream or gel to prevent yourself from cutting your skin with the razor. Some people develop razor burn from electric shavers, but that issue can be easily rectified by using pre-shave and after-shave gel. Shaving is actually one of the oldest hair removal methods. The advantages of shaving include the fact that it is convenient, painless, simple and cheap. While shaving is one of the most temporary hair removal methods you will find, you can easily go back in a day or two to shave again.

2. Waxing

Waxing is a hair removal method that you can perform at home or go to the salon to have performed. In case you aren't familiar with waxing, the process involves rubbing warm wax onto your skin. As the wax cools, it attaches itself to the hair on your body. The wax is then pulled off of your skin in the opposite direction of your hair, which pulls hairs right out of its roots. Waxing is more painful than shaving, but unlike shaving, you are pulling the entire hair out, instead of just cutting the hair off at the surface of your skin. Waxing is actually one of the cheapest and longest lasting forms of hair removal. Depending on how fast your body hair grows, you can expect to be hair free for at least two weeks if your waxing is performed correctly.

3. Epilator

Using an epilator to remove hair is slowly gaining in popularity as a hair removal method. Like shaving and waxing, you can use an epilator at home or go to the salon to have this hair removal method performed. An epilator actually looks very similar to an electric shaver. To use an epilator, you simply slowly run the device over your skin and the epilator will pull hairs directly out of their roots. While you may experience some pain when using an epilator, it also has its advantages. Epilators are cheap, they are easy to travel with, and you will experience the same results as waxing in regards to how long your hair will stay away.
