4 Tips for Booking a Self Catering Accommodation

By Edited Jun 5, 2015 0 0

Without a doubt, self catering holidays are becoming one of the most popular way of accommodation for many people. Not only they allow you to enjoy the true home away from home feeling but also, significantly cut the costs of your accommodation and the whole trip. However, I noticed that many people have problems with finding out which self catering option is ideal for them. If you are one of them, read on. In this post I will show you exactly what do you need to do to book the perfect self catering apartment for your holidays.

  1. Speak to the owner or agency.

It has become quite natural for us to simply pull out a credit card and make a booking online. We do that with plane tickets, concerts and many other things. However, when it comes to your holiday accommodation, my best advice would be to speak directly with the rental company. This way you will be able to get a feeling about them as well as ask all the questions you want, before you make the booking.

TIP: If the company doesn't offer any way of direct contact, consider it very suspicious.

  2. Check out terms and conditions for rental.

Another thing to do before you type in your credit card number onto the booking form is to read the rentals T&C's thoroughly. These are usually not that long and reading them will not take much time, however, you will be able to spot if something suspicious stands out. Watch out especially for things like refunds and cancellation policies.

  3. Check the apartments location.

Another important thing to do is to check where exactly is the apartment. How close or distant it is from all the places you would like to visit during your holidays. What are the public transport options available to you and so on.

  4. Read online reviews.

Internet is probably the most popular research tool these days and you could use it to your benefit as well. Go to travel and hotel reviews sites and check out if there are any reviews for the place you want to book. See what people write about it. I am sure this one thing alone will be enough to help you make up your mind.

And that's it. Doing the above should be enough to guarantee that you will book a good accommodation for your holidays.
