5 Fun Things to Do on Your Next Pacific Beach Vacation
If you're visiting San Diego, Pacific Beach is a great place to stay. It offers access to one of San Diego's most beautiful beaches and it has a lively downtown scene and night life, not to mention San Diego's perfect year round weather. The following are just five great activities you can do next time you're in Pacific Beach.
1. Camp at Pacific Beach State Park
If you feel like camping out with the family just a few yards away from the ocean, the Pacific Beach State Park is a great place to go. You can use the tent or RV campgrounds, or you can stay at one of the Pacific Beach vacation rentals nearby and enjoy the park during the day. The beach that connects to the park stretches out for 1/4 of a mile or 1/2 a mile, depending on the tide. There are picnic tables and day parking spaces available.
2. Cruise the Boardwalk
The boardwalk on Pacific Beach stretches for miles and connects to Mission Beach, CA. It's a colorful stretch of sidewalk to stroll along, with the ocean to the west and the shops, boutiques and restaurants to the east. The boardwalk is popular with skaters, and cyclists. You can rent a beach cruiser or bring your own bike.
3. Shopping
If you're a shopper, you'll love Pacific Beach's boutique district, which contains designer brand boutiques, local designer shops, thrift stores where you can hunt for great finds, electronic boutiques, surf equipment shops, salons and even tattoo parlors.
4. Practice Your Surfing
Tourmaline surf park in Pacific Beach is one of the best surf spots for beginners to enjoy, as the waves are slower and mushy. It's also a great hangout spot for both veteran and novice surfers. You can find Tourmaline surf park on the north side of Crystal Pier, just south of La Jolla. If you've never tried surfing before, your Pacific Beach vacation is a great time to start.
5. Check Out the Nightlife
Pacific Beach is one of the hottest spots for nighttime fun in San Diego. You'll find plenty of bars along the coast, all within close proximity to each other. The Typhoon is a great nightclub if you feel like dancing, with multiple dance stages, excellent music and video projections. You'll also find plenty of great dive bars to hop from.
