So you’re on the market for gaming laptops under $1000? Well, step right up. You’ve come to the right place. Spending $1500+ on a unit to take with you to gaming competitions and conferences isn’t to everyone’s taste.

Keep your pocket healthy while satisfying that avid gamer in you with these affordable gaming machines:

Acer Aspire V3-771G-6851 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black)

Acer’s laptops have gotten a bad rap when it comes to reliability. They may have the most affordable laptops out there, but when tested for reliability against the likes of Asus, Lenovo, etc., Acer is almost always at the bottom.

But not this Acer laptop!

- Intel Core i7-3632QM 2.2GHz (6MB Cache)
- 1 TB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
- 17.3-Inch Screen, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M
- Windows 8 W/ Approx. 4-hour battery life

This little machine has a lot of great stuff going. First off, the Intel i7 is one of the most suitable processors for gaming, and it’s not going to be obsolete for the next few years or so. Gamers who can’t live without their extra SSD hard drive will love the fact that the Aspire V3-771G-6851 has an extra SSD slot.

The video card, the GT 650m, isn’t the best out there yet it’s more than good enough to handle many of the resource-heavy PC games of today.

If you plan to play Guild Wars 2, you can do so on High Settings (at 40-60 FPS). If you participate in a lot of PvP events where there’s a ton of people around you, you may have to tone it down mostly to Medium Settings while leaving a few others at High Settings to keep a good balance of quality and good gaming experience.

You can play World Of Warcraft on Ultra Settings (at 40-60 FPS). It will drop during raids, but you can go for High Settings (at 80+ FPS) and it should take care of raids like no problem.

Lastly (for the gaming part), you can play Planetside 2, at High Settings, without any hiccups. You may get some lag if you have other programs in the background, but it’s negligible.

The integrated fan is also doing a good job of keeping the laptop’s temperature in good shape. It releases a ton of heat and that means all of the ever-important parts inside are cool. You can use it for a lot of gaming, and you won’t feel the top or bottom part of the machine heat up.

And let’s not forget: the price! Even when compared to other gaming laptops under $1000, this one is on a different league. It gives you a lot of bang for your buck with the performance it delivers.

Now, that’s not to say it’s perfect.

One thing you want to take note of is the battery life. If you are playing PC games off of the battery, this unit can only last for 45 minutes tops. So, always bring an extra battery or a power cord if you plan on gaming heavily while on the go. The size could also be an issue. It’s more of a portable desktop at 17.3 inches. Last but not the least, the glossy finish on the unit is a smudge and finger print magnet.

Bottom line: There are some things Acer could have done differently, and there are tweaks you and other avid gamers would want to add. However, for what you’ll pay and for the performance it delivers, the Acer Aspire V3-771G-6851 will keep many PC gamers on a budget happy as clams.

ASUS N56VJ-DH71 15.6-Inch Full-HD 1080P Laptop

- Intel Core i7-3630QM 2.4 GHz Processor
- 1.0 TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
- 15.6-Inch 1080P Full-HD LED Screen
- Nvidia GT 635M 2G Graphics
- Windows 8

It’s no surprise that Asus makes it to this list. Their machines are some of the most reliable (though underrated) and budget-friendly out there.

The build quality of the ASUS N56VJ-DH71 is top-notch. If you have owned a $1500+ gamer’s laptop before, you’d be surprised that this $800+ machine feels just like that. The aluminum finish is awesome, and while it could be a bit of a fingerprint-magnet, it can be easily taken care of with a cloth.

Initially, it takes quite a while to boot. As usual with other laptops, this one has a lot of bloatware. Even with all of those good-for-nothing applications in it, it’s still pretty fast after the initial boot.

Beefed up with an i7 Intel Processor and backed up by 6GB of RAM, navigating through all of the programs is a piece of cake – no freeze ups and lag to get in the way of your gaming. You may want to do a clean install and add an SSD hard drive if you want to push processing speed to another level. However, for gamers who’re just starting out and for average users, the performance is more than enough.

When it comes to graphics, it’s not a slouch! You get dual cards for graphics. For processing tasks that are graphics-intense (such as gaming), this Asus laptop uses Nvidia. For not-so-intense tasks, it uses the Intel 4000. Again, free from freeze ups and lags (which are the biggest annoyances for PC gamers).

Videos, programs, games, websites, etc. – the display quality of the ASUS N56VJ-DH71 is just amazing and everything looks fantastic. Pushing for 1080p resolution is highly recommended and can be easily handled. The sound quality is just top-notch for a laptop. It’s loud and clear, which is always a treat for users who take PC gaming seriously.

To sum it up, this ASUS machine deserves to be on this list of top-notch gaming laptops under $1000.

Asus N56DP-DH11 15.6-Inch Laptop

- AMD A-Series Quad-Core A10-4600M 2.3 GHz
- 1024 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
- 15.6-Inch Screen
- Windows 8

For $800+, ASUS has created a beast of a laptop in ASUS N56DP-DH11. Good price, even better performance, and zero hassles, there’s no doubts it’s one of the best budget gaming laptops out there.

Boot time is short and sweet. This lappy goes from completely dead, to a booted state, all the way to the screen lock in 3 seconds or so! Well, it advertises 2 seconds. But even if it does take a second or two longer, it’s still VERY fast.

This laptop handles the some of the latest PC games like a boss. Want to play Arma 2 on moderate settings? No problem! Want to play Modern Warfare 3 on its highest settings? Go for it, and the ASUS N56DP-DH11 remains lag-free. You may want to play with the sliders a bit to find the frame rate sweet-spot, but bottom line, it’s more than capable to take care of today’s graphics-intense and action-packed PC games.

As expected of Asus laptops, this one comes with clean and minimalist design. It has a sturdy build, fantastic speaker surround, and an all-purpose button that you can set to whatever you want it to do (muting the unit, opening a webpage, pulling up a program, etc.)

It may not have the longest battery life. Plus, Windows 8 (it’s a great OS to be honest) updates at least once a day, which can be annoying for gamers. But these are nothing more than minor inconveniences. All in all, it’s one of those gaming laptops under $1000 that you won’t regret buying.

- 15.6-Inch ScreenNvidia GT 630M
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

The Intel i7 2670 Processor that this Asus laptop has demands a lot of respect especially in the speed department. You’d usually find this processor in more expensive laptops. This is a good way to make sure you can handle newer and more intensive programs and games as they are released.

The 6GB RAM (which is good enough for gaming) and the upgrade option works hand-in-hand with its processing power. Usually, you have to shell out top-dollar if you want to go beyond 8GB RAM. However, the ASUS N53SM-AS51 can be upgraded to 16GB, and that’s usually unheard of in gaming laptops under $1000. With the i7 processor, this ensures you’ll be on top of things for a few years at the very least.

And to make sure your gaming experience is as good and smooth as it could get, the ASUS N53SM-AS51 comes with the Nvidia GT 630M graphics card. It’s not top of the line, but it’s a mid-level discrete graphics card that delivers rock-solid performance for intensive programs. For not-so-heavy graphics action, the Intel 3000 On-Board Graphics takes care of the job.

When you add a beautiful screen that delivers two-thumbs-up picture quality from almost any angle; speakers that are not too loud but carry good quality; and a sturdy build and clean design, this one of those gaming laptops under $1000 that deliver performance that far surpasses their price.

Of all the gaming laptops under $1000 listed here, this one doesn’t impress in the looks / aesthetics department. It looks very generic, it seems like it doesn’t deliver much. The screen gloss and reflection are way more than what you’d want your eye to handle. The matte finish could have been better.

But look beyond that and what you have in front of you is a solid performing Asus machine that gamers would love to take with them on gaming conferences and events. While plastic and might look cheap, the case feels very sturdy. The keyboard has a nice feel to it especially when you type.

It is glossy as mentioned earlier. BUT the screen resolution (1600x900 pixels) delivers crisp and bright display, which is pleasant for gaming, viewing videos and photos, etc.

As for power and performance, the i5-3210 processor along with the 6GB RAM and Nvidia GForce 610M discrete graphics card make up a speedy machine that’s good enough for gaming at medium settings, media viewing, internet usage, and everything in between.

The 750GB hard drive, while slower compared to an SSD (that’s to be expected), gives the average gamer and user enough storage capacity to keep all his games, movies, files, etc. all in one place.
