Gym memberships can be expensive, especially when you stop going. Then you have to drive to the gym, so add in the cost of gas and car upkeep fees. You may not like working out in public (though I’ll let you in on a secret, almost everyone feels out of place at a gym.) Gyms are always trying to sell you tons of stuff that you do not need.

What is the best place to escape all of this?

Your own house!

No more excuses, here are 5 home workout tips to make your life easier.

1. Workout First Thing During the Day

If you wait all day to workout you will find tons of excuses to not workout. Make a habit of working out early in the day so that it is done and you can feel free to be distracted later. Working out early can also help you do better throughout the day by getting more done or allowing you to learn more.

2. Log Your Workouts

Make sure to have a notebook or spreadsheet that you mark down what you have accomplished. This will help you remember what you have done, motivate you by seeing your progress, and help you realize how consistent you have been. Writing down what you have done can help you see holes in your workout plan.

3. Change Your Routine

I don’t mean change your daily routine necessarily, but the movements and exercises you do. If you do 3 sets of 10 push ups everyday then you will probably stop making any progress. Change your workout by doing more reps or sets, or changing the type of push up or pick a different exercise entirely. Switching up your workout will help you continue to make progress.

4. Find Workout Partners

Working out with a buddy can provide a ton of motivation and make you work a lot harder. A friend will also keep you accountable to exercise each day. This can be a family member or your friend down the street.

5. Rest

It is important to take a rest day. If you haven’t taken a day off in a while you should. Play some other sports or just relax. It is when you rest that you recover and grow stronger.

Exercising at home can be intimidating, especially if you are just stating to workout in the first place. I hope these home workout tips are helpful to you and your endeavor to get healthier.
