Guardians of the Galaxy Characters

By Edited Nov 1, 2015 0 0

The original members of the Guardians are a team of galactic heroes that appear in Marvel Comics beginning in the 1970s in an alternate timeline called Earth-616 which takes place mostly in the 31st century.

However, it remains to be seen how closely the Hollywood version will follow the Guardians of the Galaxy comic book, but they are known to be time travelers. Based on the clue dropped after the credits of the Avengers movie, the team will be doing battle with their old nemesis Thanos, with a probable crossover into the next Avengers movie in 2015.

In fact, this is a central theme in the movie, misfit characters on the wrong path in life, that find a greater calling to be a force for good.

However, he is actually half extraterrestrial because his mother had an affair with an alien that had crashed on Earth decades before.  Quill goes on to become an astronaut on Earth and was assigned to Eve, NASA's first permanently manned space station. While aboard Eve, Peter witnesses a celestial apparition which identifies itself as Star-Lord, a concept of what a chosen earthling would become.

Peter volunteers, but is denied because of his bad attitude and past transgressions and terminated from the station. From Earth, he steals a ship, returns to Eve and forcefully replaces the chosen human. After a fire fight, he transported away just in time by the celestial forces and transformed into Star-Lord.

Centuries ago, humanoids from a distant part of the galaxy created a world to use as an asylum for their insane citizens. The psychiatrists created robots to care for the insane patients but were forced to leave the planet because of troubles on their home world. For generations the robots watched over the insane patients who were having children, who in turn were insane.[1]

Eventually, the robots sought a way out from directly caring for their patients by altering the genetics of various animals on the planet to create caretakers for the insane to relieve them of their duties.  The robots move to the other side of the planet and it becomes known as Halfworld, divided between the robots and the insane.

The robots continued to tinker with genetics, building toys designed by the animals to keep the insane on the other half of the planet entertained, making machines and weapons for use by the cybernetically enhanced animals. Eventually the genetically modified animals create their own society away from the descendants of the original insane patients. It is from this environment that Rocket Raccoon, a Quadrant Guardian, reigns.
