Want Soft, Shiny hair? Head to the Kitchen!
When I was first told this tip (by a friend of mine who works in an upscale salon), I was skeptical. Out of frustration with my dry, unmanageable hair I gave it a try and was impressed with the results. Mix one part hair conditioner with one part of olive oil. Massage into your hair, working from the tips to your scalp. Put on a shower cap or wrap your head in plastic wrap. Leave in for 15 minutes. Shampoo and condition as usual and your hair will be softer than you can imagine! Repeat as needed.
Dry, Itchy Skin? Not Anymore!
During the winter, my skin hates me. I itch in all the hard to reach places and left unchecked, my skin will be as dry as a desert. This is an easy fix! Fill a small, unbreakable container with salt. I prefer epson salt or sea salt but plain old table salt works too. Add enough mineral or baby oil to your salt to get all of it moist but not soupy. Use this as a body scrub and scrub vigorously all over. Rinse with warm (not hot) water. Your skin will feel amazingly soft and will have a healthy glow to it. The salt helps detoxify your skin as well as exfoliate and the mineral or baby oil softens your skin without leaving an oily residue.
Vinegar and Honey - Helps Settle Your Stomach
I know it sounds weird and gross but this tastes a lot better than it sounds and it actually works! In a drinking glass add one tablespoon of natural unfiltered apple cider vinegar (the only brand I can find locally is called Bragg's) with one tablespoon of natural local honey. Mix well until it is blended. Fill your glass with ice-cold water and sip like a tea over the course of 30 minutes. This will settle your stomach within the first 15 minutes of having a sip.
There are some people who swear by this concoction and drink it every day! It has been said to make your skin healthier and even helps you lose weight.
Fast & Easy Relief From Canker and Cold Sores
Canker and cold sores seem to come when we want them the least! There are many over the counter and prescription medications but I have found this simple mixture to work just as well without the expense of heading to the drug store. Simply mix a thick paste of salt and water and apply to the affected area. You may find you need to reapply often (at least twice an hour) when you first start to feel "that tingle". Repeat as often as needed for 2-3 days and your sore will disappear like magic!
