Romance on the Water in Tampa Bay
The waters of Tampa offer a beautiful, romantic backdrop to your proposal almost any time of year. If you’re looking for a place to propose to that special someone, especially in the Winter months of this holiday season, there are some Tampa attractions that will help make your moment special.
Our first 3 suggestions actually get you out on the waves:
Cruise to the Caribbean
Leaving on a Carnival or Norwegian is a great build up to popping the question, and you can leave right from Tampa’s Channelside District. Today’s cruise ships provide ample fine dining options, and the crew would go out of their way to enhance that special ambience if you let them know in advance.
Cruise the Bay
If a 3 night trip is not in your time frame or budget, you could take an evening cruise on the Yacht Starship Dining, a 3 diamond rated floating restaurant that leaves from Channelside as well. Not quite the drama of the bigger ships, but a lovely evening just the same. Make sure you get a good spot at the window or out on the upper deck.
The most intimate, romantic way to get out on the waters of Tampa Bay is by sail boat. Imagine the lights of the city, a cool breeze and the almost absolute quiet of gliding along on the water by sail. If you’re a sailor, there are several small vessels you can rent from Davis Island. If you’re not, there is a small catamaran called the NoShooz that you can have all to yourself, piloted by a discreet captain and catered with Champaign. Tampa Sailing Tours will allow you to start at sunset and pop the question to the views of the city at night.
Being out on the water may not be for everyone, but there are still wonderful spots to make your evening special. Curtis Hixon Park is located along the Riverwalk in Tampa, right across from the spires of the University of Tampa and next to the Tampa Museum of Art. UT at night provides an ethereal, romantic backdrop and the wide cobblestone path along the Hillsborough River will give you the space to make your move. This park between UT and the backdrop of downtown Tampa is a favorite for couples and has become one of Tampa attractions.
On the Beach
Where water and land meet, whether it’s a river, stream, ocean or lake, seems to add romance to any situation. Tampa Bay has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and they make a perfect setting to propose. The Don Cesar Hotel on St. Pete Beach is an art deco masterpiece built on the white sands of St. Petersburg, FL. Have dinner in this upscale, unique setting and take your wine glasses out with you for a walk along the water. There are fewer kids and families at the Don Cesar than other beach resorts, so there’s a good chance you can find your own little corner of paradise to make your proposal.
Your proposal will be remembered your entire life, make it memorable in Tampa Bay!
