1. Visit Tamshui Fisherman's Wharf
Situated at at the western tip of Tamsui District, New Taipei City, Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf is a scenic spot well known for fresh seafood and beautiful sunset. To get there, take a 10-minute ferry ride from the Tamsui Ferry Pier.
Have a cup of coffee, take a seat at the benches and feel the romantic wind breeze. It is also a great place to stroll hand-in-hand through the docks.
Don't forget to take a stroll up Lover's Bridge to catch the sunset. This is a single slanted, cable-stayed and white colored bridge that derived it's name from it's opening date on February 14, 2003. The changes of light projected on the bridge at night also adds to the romance factor at this must-see location in Taipei!
2. Check-in to a Love Motel
Love motels first originated in Japan but have taken Taiwan by storm. Not your scuzzy deal for a furtive love adventure, these modern rooms are equipped with full karaoke sound systems, massive jacuzzis and high-tech privacy protection. Even Taiwanese youngsters are opting for a modern love motel room over a KTV lounge to have a party.
However, the romantic appeal still stays. The interior of Taipei's love motels range from simple yet fashionable to outrageous. The Sato Castle motel has a luxurious, Victorian theme, the Four Seasons Motel is more classic.
p.s. If you happen to be in Kaohsiung, the Batman-Themed Batclaved Love Motel caters to the geekiest of lovers. Can't imagine anyone getting laid in there? Well, there's something for everyone when it comes to love motels in Taiwan!
3. Enjoy the view at Yangmingshan

Instead of buying flowers, why not go straight to them? The beautiful landscape of Yangmingshan is dotted with cherry blossoms, azaleas and camellias - providing a convenient and somewhat romantic escape from the hustle and bustle of Taipei city.
The annual Yangmingshan Flower Festival is held in every first quarter of the year. It begins with the flowering of the Taiwan cherry, double cherry, Japanese showa cherry and somei-yoshino cherry trees in the park around January to February, followed by the azalea blooms in February to March. It's no wonder that Yangmingshan is a popular pre-wedding photography spot!
And while you're there, you may opt have dinner at 'The Top' restaurant located on top of Yangmingshan to enjoy a breathtaking view while wining and dining each other.
4. Go for a Hot Spring Bath at Beitou
If you're going as a couple, definitely opt for the private rooms (there's only one hot spring in there) and also suggest making a reservation beforehand.
Sweetme Hotspring Resort at Xinbeitou has a selection of private rooms each with their very own touch of class. I personally like the Japanese Quad design. The Golden Hot Spring Hotel is lovely as well.
Just the sight of your own personal hot tub in the room is enough to steam things up a little, wouldn't you say?
5. Ride the Miramar Ferris Wheel
The Miramar Ferris Wheel, located at Miramar Entertainment Park (Zhongshan District), has been a landmark of Taipei since it was established. The ferris wheel sits on roof Miramar Mall and has a combined height of 100 meters. It has 48 cabinets, each one fully air-conditioned.
It offers incredible views of the city on one side, and Yangmingshan National Park on the other.
The wheel also lights up at night, displaying around three themes of neon lightshows. Now if this doesn't add a touch of romance to Taipei's skyline, I don't know what will. Bask in the glow, way up in the air atop this 17-minute ride. I can feel the love coming already!
Taipei in a Day gives you both great details about where to go in Taipei as well as details about how to fit in and not make any social mistakes, while Groovy Map 'n' Guide Taipei (2012) will probably be tattered from overuse while you're still having a good time. The good news: it's laminated.
