Aside from comfort, good jeans are all about visuals. When picking the right jean for you, look at the silouette of the jeans first once you've put them on. This is important. A long, sleek line is what you're after. And you can achieve this whether you're a size 2 or 22. Here are 5 things to keep in mind when shopping for a good pair of jeans.
Stay away from embellishments. These will intrude on a clean, simple, visual look. Instead of somebody looking at you in your jeans and seeing a clean silouette the eye will land on the embellisments. And if the embellishmensts, such as rinestones are on the pockets, these can amplifiy weight trouble spots. Also embellishments reflect fads in designs. This might mean that your jeans will go out of style before you naturally wear them out.
Fading on jeans can be as troublesome as embellishments. Fading is usually done to the knees of the jeans or on the thighs (front and back). This lighter tonality can make you look heavier in those areas.
Denim woven with Spandex or Lycra can give added support while adding to a nice sleek line. They'll give a little too which offers added comfort.
Make sure the top of the waistband of the jeans falls just below the belly button. It should be comfortable and have some natural stretch to it. Nobody enjoys a waitband cutting into their skin.
Pockets, pockets, pockets! Make sure the back pockets are in the right position. Put on a pair jeans in the fitting room and immediately check the location of the bottom of the back pockets. The bottom edge or peek should fall where the top of your thighs begin.
People love their blue jeans. Today they come in hundreds of different designs and brand names are big. Don't be surprised if it takes 2 or 3 hours or more to find a good pair jeans. Keep trying them on until you find the perfect jean for your height and body type. And once you find that pair, buy two pair right away. These days a good pair jeans is as important to our wardrobes as the little black dress. With a good pair of jeans you can add a slinky top and blazer and go out for dinner. The next day you can wear that same pair of jeans when you head out to walk your dog. Jeans make a fashion statement. Never under estimate the importance of finding the right pair for you.
