Appreciate What You Have

  Deficiency motivation doesn't work. It will lead to a life-long pursuit of try to fix me. Learn to appreciate what you have and where and who you are.

Instead of dwelling on what is wrong in your life, think about what you have and what you like about yourself.  If you have problems with this, make a journal and write all these items down.  When you are feeling discouraged, read over the list and add one thing to it.  You can make sections.  List areas of your life and list the positive items in those areas.  If you are feeling down about your job, look at that section and see what you have done here that you were proud of.  Add another item to the list. 


Set Goals

 "Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals."



We all at times find things we want to change in ourselves, or in the circumstances of our lives.  Set goals to change them.  Don’t just complain about it once a week for the rest of your life.  Tired of being clumsy?  Join a dance class.  Take your partner with you.  That will bring the two of your closer.  Or it will let you make new friends. 


 Use Time

Time itself will cure a lot of problems.  You will also need to use time to reach your goals.  If you have money goals, finances will be tight until your hard work starts to pay off.  If you have relationship goals, you might be alone for a little while, until you find someone who fits with you.  Use patience and work on them until the work pays off.


Surround Your Self With Positivity

It is hard to stay positive if those around you are constantly complaining and dwelling on the negative.  Decide which of these people you want to keep in your life which you should forget.  Limit those who are negative to situations where they will do the least harm to you.  For instance, if your mother is always negative, limit get togethers to happy occasions where there is bound to be less complaining, and to encounters where the time has a natural ending, like lunch at one of her favorite restaurants.  She will complain less, and lunch will be over, ending your time together.


Look at Negatives As Positives

Well, Thomas Edison might not have said these exact words, but they certainly are what he lived by.  When inventing the light bulb, he had to try material after material until he found the one that worked for the filament.  Remember that when you are working towards your goals.  Not everything will go right.  You will not always have forward progress.  But every time you do anything towards your goals, whether it works or not, helps you to figure out how to get there.  If it helps by telling you what not to do, accept it and move on to the next step.
