Suppositories, Creams And Ointments - All of these can be purchased over the counter and all will provide relief from the irritation and pain you are experiencing. For best results look for a product that contains hydrocortisone.

Applying Witch Hazel - Witch Hazel is a great way to ease the discomfort. The properties in witch hazel are helpful in reducing the swelling.

Taking A Stool Softener - A stool softener works to soften the stool so you will not have to strain when using the bathroom. Excessive straining is one of the major causes of hemorrhoids.

Warm Baths- 2 or 3 warm 15 minutes sitz baths will work wonders in reducing the pain and swelling associated with the hemorrhoid. You can also add a little witch hazel to the water for added relief.

Avoid Putting Pressure On The Area - If at all possible you should avoid putting excessive pressure on the area for long periods of time. If you work in a position that requires you to sit for hours on end, be sure to get up every hour or so for a few minutes. You can also utilize an inflatable pillow ring to take some of the pressure off the area while you are sitting.

Following these recommended treatments should help to clear up your hemorrhoids relatively quickly. To keep your hemorrhoids from returning, you should implement plenty of fiber and water into your daily diet.

Eating fiber rich foods and drinking plenty of water will help keep your system regular and alleviate the need for you to strain during bowel movements.
