5 Uses for Roman Chamomile Essential Oil

By Edited Sep 5, 2016 0 0

Research of alternative health products have come a very long way in the last few years and there is still more research to be done. None of these health benefits, or the ideas below, have been evaluated or approved by the FDA. The ideas in this article should not be used in place of personal judgment or medical treatment when needed. It is also not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Roman Chamomile is a flower that has been used for thousands of years. It is known to have calming and relaxing properties. Because of this, Ancient Roman soldiers would smell the scent before going to war in order to give them mental clarity and courage. Because so many people use this oil to calm their nerves, it is also common to use it just before going to bed to help relax the body. Five popular uses of Roman Chamomile essential oil are:

Allergies

During allergy season, many people will diffuse Roman Chamomile in their home or office.  If you are having particularly bad seasonal allergies, you might want to try putting it on the bottom of your feet and also inhale the oil from the bottle or by putting it on your hands and cupping them around your nose and mouth while taking deep, slow breaths.

Bee and Hornet Stings

Because the natural elements of the oil help calm and sooth, it is perfect to apply to a bee or hornet sting. It will be effective if you simply put one drop on the sting. If you have sensitive skin, you might want to consider using a carrier product such as coconut oil to dilute the strength as well.

Stress and Depression

The scent of Roman Chamomile can help calm the emotions in the body. Common uses in aromatherapy to help reduce stress and decrease depression are to inhale the aroma of the oil. You can also try adding a few drops to your bath or putting a drop or two on your pillowcase before bed.

Detoxifying

It also encourages healthy liver function. It is common to rub the oil over the liver and also on the feet. This in conjunction with taking the oil internally can give your body a boost and help it continue to work properly.

Skin Conditions

Roman Chamomile can soothe skin that might be sensitive or have a rash. You can try to add it to your current lotion or you can try to use it with a carrier oil. Either way, you will see results from putting this calming oil on any kind of irritated or dry skin. It is important to remember when using essential oils that quality matters. Not all products are created equal. You need to make sure that the oils you use are 100% pure and natural. I would only recommend using quality products from known and respected brands.
