Motivation is critical when you take your first steps to achieving a new goal or starting to do something new. It’s often said that motivation is what gets you started and habit is what keeps you going. So how can we get more motivation so we can achieve the things we want to? This article will give you 5 ways to get motivated when you are trying to accomplish something new.

1. Set a smart goal - Set a specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time framed goal that gets you pumped up when you wake up in the morning. A goal that you really want to achieve will give you the motivation you need to take the first and necessary steps.

2. Remind yourself daily - You have to remind yourself daily of your goal and the reason you have for achieving it. It’s easy to get distracted and let outside circumstances control your day so that you forget about your goal. Once you forget your goal, your motivation for achieving it will slowly fade away. Set up pictures or papers with your goal written on it around your house so you will be constantly reminded.

3. Find inspiration - One of the best way to get motivated is to surround yourself with successful people who inspires you. It’s super easy to find these people on the Internet, on blogs, on Youtube, in books, in audio-books and on different social media sites. Seek them out and let them inspire and motivate you to take action.

4. Commit to others - Another great thing that will get you motivated is to tell others about your commitment or the thing you are trying to achieve. The more people who knows, the better. So why not share it with your friends on Twitter and Facebook? Doing so will get you really motivated because I don’t believe you want to look bad in front of all your friends if you fail or give up. You will do what it takes.

5. Build on small accomplishments and milestones - If you’ve set a smart goal, (as discussed above) your goal will easily be measurable and you can divide it into smaller goals or steps. Once you’ve hit the first small goal or step take some time to celebrate and realise that you’ve actually are starting to get closer and closer to your goal. This will get you motivation to continue because you can see the road ahead of you.
