Junk Food To Healthy!

whaaa

It’s green, it looks funky, and it is absolutely boring! Maybe it’s healthy but we don’t see the benefits right away so what’s the point? We all try to force vegetables and healthy foods in our kids’ mouths ones once in a while, or more like once every few hours. With all the options of fast food, junk food, and colorful candies, it almost seems impossible to break the habit of our kids’ diets. They may be healthy constantly with a nutrient rich diet consisting of protein, carbohydrates and fats but they are still eating lots of junk food then I will show you how to help your kids choose better foods!

Healthy Eating & Living

Start the day with a healthy breakfast:

Eating meals with high sugar content can create quick energy that drops as fast as it starts. This is not ideal as breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Don’t expect to replace with your kids favorite Lucky charms breakfast with eggs and fruits from the very first day. It won’t work and the sudden change will most likely fail.

Try to slowly introduce a small healthy snack along with your kids’ regular meal.

Gradually increase the portion of the healthy food and decrease the amount of unhealthy foods that is in their breakfast. You can also play with the shape of the healthy food to make it look fun.

Quick tip:

Sometimes your kids may never accept healthy foods at all, unless you can sneak it into their meals. Try chopping tiny bits and pieces of fruits or vegetables into their sandwiches. Starting with a healthy breakfast will help to adjust their taste buds to choose healthier foods throughout their day.

Plan the meals:

Kids are constantly growing so a constant flow of food and fluids is important to have throughout the day. Spread the meals for every 2 to 3 hours and pack the food ahead of time. Invest in a cooler so you can avoid buying fast food when you are on the go. You can pack vegetables and snacks like carrots, pretzels and a variety of fruits. This will not only keep your kids from going hungry but it will also save you money from buying fast food meals.

Quick tip

: Your kids may crave their fast food and they might insist to have their regular on the go meals. You can buy their meals but in smaller portions so they can snack on the healthy food along with their regular fast food meals.

Create a kids menu:

This is a fun way to make sure your kids get to eat what they want. Children love to make decisions; if they have choices they will be excited for the healthy food.

You may want to either buy a kids cookbook or surf the internet for fun recipes that are both healthy and fun that they will enjoy eating. Have fun with the meals, make sure it has lots of colors and shapes as kids will love to see a meal that excites them.

Quick tip

: Let your children help you make it.  That way, your kids are almost guaranteed that they will enjoy the food since they know what is going in their meals. There won’t be any surprises for you or for the kids!

Introduce them to the garden:

As a kid, I would have loved to go pick my own apples or any kind of food off trees and plants. It’s more special and unique than going to the grocery store. Have your children help you garden and let them harvest the vegetables and fruits.

Having them outside will also help get their physically activity up and as they garden, all their senses will come into play which is great for their health and sense of well-being.

Quick tip

: If you don’t have a garden, you might be able to take them to a farm where they can walk through fields of veggies and fruits and pick what they like. If that isn’t possible you can always plant a little plant or tree inside or outside the house. You can also take your kids shopping with you, let them pick something that looks good to them.

Be a role model:

Monkey see monkey do! Which is true for kids, they will copy almost anything they see. And believe me they see what their parents eat, if it isn’t something you want your kids to be eating than don’t eat it!

This doesn’t mean you can’t drink adult stuff like alcohol but if you don’t want your kids to eat junk food then you should lead them into a healthier diet. Have you ever seen an obese kid?

If you met their parents you will figure out on your own why it could have happened to their kids. Sometimes it might just be bad luck. In the end, the people around the kids should be their role models. If the parents are eating junk food, so will the kids.

Quick Tip:

Try your best to be a great role model especially around your children. They will usually follow the steps of their parents. You can apply the same tips to yourself if you have a issue’s eating more healthy food than junk food.

what

All in all, it’s really up to the parents of the children to help them become the best version of themselves. This doesn’t mean your kids can’t enjoy their favourite foods.

You can still give them a treat but not to overindulged in it. Have them choose and prepare foods with you and slowly introduce foods they are not used to seeing or eating.

It may take some time for them to accept a new food before they even taste it. Always let your children have their breakfast and love them for who they are. No matter what shape or weight they are, growing can be extremely stressful for them.

With all the pressure from society put on them, they need every ounce of love and support from their loved ones. Let them enjoy the process and make every meal look extraordinary fun and exciting!
