For the administrative assistant, getting a good start to your day can make all the difference in the world. When your day starts off good, it is easier to be nice to people, it is easier to concentrate on your work, and it is easier to be more efficient. But a good day doesn’t always come easy. Sometimes it takes some work on your part to get the day started off right.
Planning ahead can make having a good day a little bit easier. With the right tools, you might find yourself having more good days than you used to.
Here are a few ways you can get your day started right:
Getting your day started with deep breathing helps to calm you and put you in the right frame of mind. It doesn't have to be formal - just a few minutes before you hop out of bed! Before you start running around after your kids or cooking breakfast or even getting dressed, take a minute or two to take in some full breaths and let them out slowly. You will get more oxygen to your brain and your blood cells and you will feel more energetic.
Want more energy? Take the time to eat. It doesn't have to be a cooked meal and you can even eat on the run (there are loads of cereal bars that are full of energy). Your body needs fuel though in order to do all the things it needs to do and if you give your body energy at the beginning of the day you will move faster. It is hard to have a bad day when your body is on the move but having a good day is even more difficult when you feel like your limbs are full of lead.
Put on some energizing music to run around and get ready to. You can even let the kids take turns choosing the music and then everyone gets a turn. It will make you feel better and your children will be smiling – it’s hard to have a bad day when your morning starts with smiles and laughter.
Take a few minutes to do some stretching or jump rope for five minutes. That will get your blood moving faster and you'll find you have more energy.
Get Up Earlier
Yes, earlier. People who get up earlier usually have more time and more time means that you have less running around. Know where everything is before you have to leave.
The administrative assistant is the first person that people see and talk to when they enter a place of business. Customers expect to be greeted by someone happy and cheerful to be at work. It can be hard to do that though if you have had a bad morning. If you want to start your day right, plan ahead and practice some of these good morning habits.
