1. Prepare - Eliminate fattening food temptation by clearing your kitchen of the foods you know are bad for you but which you simply can't resist. It's ok to indulge yourself once in a while, but if you're going to lose weight you shouldn't have to fight to hard for it. A clear kitchen will help a lot.
2. Get a diet plan - I don't care if it's a book, an online program, or something you've heard about. All I care is that you have some plan to work with. This will make it easier to follow through with the plan as you have some framework within to proceed.
3. Don't judge yourself too quickly - Even if your original goal is to lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks and you just don't see it happening, don't feel bad. You can and should continue even if your results are slower than you would have hoped for. Often, it is the slower results that stick for the long term.
4. Exercise 3 times a week at least - I recommend combining cardio workouts and strength training. It is simply the best thing you can do to boost your metabolism and shed weight quickly. You don't need to train each and every day. 3 times a week, as long as you're serious, should be quite enough.
5. Eat a lot of fruit and vegetables - There are too many health benefits of eating fruit and vegetables to count. I recommend them because they make the perfect healthy in between meals snack. They will replace all the nasty sugar snacks you may be craving.
Following these tips will help you lose weight and get really skinny, if this is what you're after. I recommend losing weight sensibly and to not go overboard. You will look and feel better this way.
