5 must have free Android apps for long distance relationships

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Keeping a relationship alive takes work, and that becomes especially true when you and your sweetheart are miles, even countries away from each other! Fortunately, gone are the days when you had to wait for days to receive letters from your beloved one. Thanks to technology, keeping a long distance relationship alive is so much easier now! Here is a selection of some great Android apps you might want to check out if you are in a long distance relationship!

  • Whatsapp

Whatsapp is a free app that will allow you to send text messages to your boyfriend or girlfriend for free, regardless of where they are. As long as you have an internet connection, you can send messages, pictures or even videos without having to pay a penny! WhatsApp Messenger is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone and Nokia, so even if they don't have an android phone you can stay in touch for free thanks to this app!

  • Tango

On top of allowing you to send text messages, pictures and videos, Tango also allows you to call any other Tango user using 3G, 4G or WiFi. You can also play games and make video calls. Tango is available for the PC, iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Windows Phone 7 and Android phones and tablets. The app has been optimized for mobile devices, so you will be able to call them anytime, anywhere, with the best audio and quality available for your bandwith.

  • Skype

The Skype app allows you to IM or call any other Skype user. Skype is available for PC and Mac, as well as most phones and tablets, so this might be a great option if your other half does not have a smartphone or a reliable mobile internet connection. Another great thing about Skype is that you can purchase a Skype-in number and have them call you, wherever you are, paying only what they would pay to call a local landline, which in most countries is free. You can also send regular SMS and place regular phone calls to cell phones and landlines at very reduced rates.

  • Dropbox

You might have heard about dropbox or use it as a virtual drive, but you might want to check out their shared folders! You can create a folder just for you and your partner, and put pictures, videos, songs or any other file that you want in a place where both of you can access it. You can also upload a file and send them a link for them to download it. Great way to share that video of that concert where they played their favorite song with them!

  • Evernote

Evernote is another app that most people know but few people would think of how useful it can be for people in a long distance relationship. The possibilities are almost endless. Create a joint journal. Make a to-do list with all the things you want to do when you next see each other. Jot down all the things you want to tell them next time you talk to them.

Keep your love alive in spite of the distance thanks to these great free android apps!
