Bonding is one of the earliest techniques used to apply hair extensions. Bonding is a great way to add volume. Tracks are glued to the roots or scalp using a special bonding glue

  • This may be the easiest technique to apply hair extensions at home
  • Bonded hair extensions blend close to the hair and scalp and makes for a very natural blended look

  • Least expensive method

  • Tracks may only last a week or two, because of the perspiration of the scalp, products used routinely on the hair, and humidity from the bath & shower
  • How long they last would vary from person to person, but usually one or two weeks.
  •  The glue can build up on the hair and make the hair very stiff and sticky if the glue is not thoroughly removed
  • If tracks are not applied neatly to the root of the hair close to the scalp, glue may cause breakage to the hair.
  • The removal process can be messy

You can apply sew in extensions ,with no extra glues or adhesives. The stylist only uses a sewing needle and thread. The needle  is a special curved needle used to sew in hair extensions. First the natural hair is braided down into a circular pattern. You and your stylist  may also braid the hair according to how you would like to wear it.Leaving the top front out and getting half of the hair braided is an option. Extensions should be tightened about every two to three weeks depending on how fast the hair grows underneath the braids. Extensions can also be tightened depending on the texture of the hair and how often it needs maintenance.

  • If applied properly, this technique can be very secure
  • Can last up to three or four months depending on personal maintenance and clients preference.

  •  There will be the bumps of braid there with this technique. The stylist must try to minimize the braids and make them as small as possible
  • If hair does not have much curly texture , hair may not stay braided very long. If hair is naturally very straight. Client may ask stylist about using braiding hair to braid the natural hair down with to give the a little more texture to hold the tracks
