3. Why did the chicken cross the road?
Why did the chicken cross the road?
To get to the other side.
The oldest joke in the book! But what you didn't know about the joke you've heard a million times is that "the other side" has a double meaning. The joke is that the chicken crossed the road to commit suicide.
Most kids are too young to understand the double meaning so we grow up thinking the joke is the obvious literal meaning.
4. Shuffled deck of cards
Every time you properly shuffle a deck of cards, the order of the cards has most likely never been the same order in the history of the world.
It's true! There are 52 cards in a deck. So how many possible orders are there with 52 unique cards?
That's 68 digits long!
And how many times have cards been shuffled in the history of the world? Well, there's no way of knowing that so let's overestimate. With around 7 billion people in the world and playing cards having been around since 1300 A.D. probably, and we assume that every person has been shuffling cards every second for the past 800 years, that should be way more than the actual number. 800 years is 292,000 days, which is 25,228,800,000 seconds. So 7 billion people times 25,228,800,000 seconds should give us 1.766X1020 different combinations (if every person has been shuffling every second of the day).
Divide this into the total number of combinations? That's a chance of 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. You have a better chance of winning the lottery!
