A Gas Fireplace Remote Control - True Convenience

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Have you ever thought how nice it would be if you had a fireplace remote control to adjust your gas fireplace so you would not have to get out of your chair?  There is nothing like sitting in front of your gas fireplace, enjoying the nice warm glow and sipping on your favorite hot beverage.  I can think of many afternoons where I was feeling a nap coming on just about the time the fire became overwhelmingly warm.  By the time I got up and turned down the flames on the gas logs, my drowsiness had subsided and my attempt to regain it and settle in for a nice afternoon nap was for naught.

I have always loved my gas logs.  No mess, no wood to cut, haul, or stack and no refilling the wood box.  The only issue is that constant up and down to adjust the height of the flame in order to maintain a comfortable temperature.  I like to keep the back part of the house cooler during the day, so I set my heating unit thermostat lower which also lowers the heat in the den and kitchen area.  This is where the gas logs are beneficial in keeping us warm in the part of the house we are occupying.  I just always wanted some way to set the temperature on my gas fireplace so I could set it and forget it.  Well there are now options ranging from a fireplace remote control to a thermostat to control the fireplace heat.

A fireplace remote control is now available with a battery operated RF transmitter allowing you to turn your ventless gas fireplace on and off from up to 25 feet away.  If you have the proper type gas valve, you simply connect a remote receiver to the gas valve, plug it into a nearby electrical outlet and the gas valve will shut on and off with a simple click of the remote control.  If you do not have an electrical outlet nearby, there are remote receivers manufactured that are powered by common AA batteries.  So considering this, there should be an option available for everyone.

If you are like me and are looking for even more versatility in the control of your fireplace, they also make programmable gas fireplace thermostat remotes.  With these units, the fireplace remote control can be utilized to turn the unit on and off, set a countdown timer to turn off the fireplace after a set amount of time (up to 9 hours on some units), or you can set a desired temperature that the gas fireplace will maintain much like your central heating unit.  Many of these remotes will have displays that tell you the temperature setting you have selected for your fireplace, as well as the room temperature.  Many of these units are also entirely battery powered allowing you complete control even in the event of a power outage.

So, if you are like me and feel like you need just one more item in your home that operates by remote control, check out the options available to you for a fireplace remote control.  You can of course search the Internet for additional information, or stop by your local fireplace shop for a demonstration of the possibilities available for the remote control of your vented or vent free gas fireplace.
