A Grandparents Survival Guide for Christmas: Hottest Toys for 2010

By Edited Nov 20, 2015 1 0

As a grandparent myself, I understand the challenge each year when we all trek to the local toy store and wander aimlessly down the toy-filled isles crammed with the latest and greatest gifts and gadgets. Sometimes I wished the best ones would just jump into the cart and I'd be a big hit on Christmas morning. Unfortunately, it never happened that way.

With each new year comes the new year's craze for the hottest toy for girls and boys. Sometimes there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why one toy is more popular over another – but, alas, we need to sift through the hoopla and try to appear knowledgeable on the subject.

A Grandparents Survival Guide

If you found this article, you just hit pay dirt! I spent hours upon hours surfing the web for the hottest Christmas toys for 2010 so you can be a hero on Christmas morning. And, the best part – I only selected toys that were under $50 so it would be easy on your wallet this year. One more bonus, I've included a one-stop link at the end of this article so you don't even have to leave house to get your bounty.

With that said, let's review the hottest Christmas toys for 2010.

Boy's Hottest Christmas Toys 2010

• LEGO Hogwarts Game

For $29.99 this LEGO kit is all about Harry Potter – so it's got to be a hit. Just don't get caught playing with the Lego's.

• Loopz Game

For $23.99 the Loopz Game is an interactive skill and action music memory game for 1-4 players and appeals to the electronic side of toys.

• Matchbox Stinky the Garbage Truck

Retail price is $59.00 but the link in the last part of this article can put it under the Christmas tree for $49.00 – and who can resist anything from Matchbox?

• Spy Net: Night Vision Surveillance Goggles

Even I want these night vision goggles. Priced at $49.00 this is sure to please the older grandsons in the family.

• Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera (Blue)

For about $39.99 this kid friendly-digital camera keeps tiny little people from mucking up the lens on your camera. It's easy to use and has almost all of the features of the adult version – including being able to download the pictures to a computer.

Girl's Hottest Christmas Toys 2010

• Lalaloopsy Doll Crumb Sugar Cookie

Priced about $24.99 this cute little doll is in one in a series. Each doll comes with a companion accessory.

• Orbeez - Magic Maker

Priced at $29.99 this bead dispensing toy is sure to be fun for all the items your little princess wants to create. However, the small beads make it unsuitable for younger children.

• My Pillow Pets Lavender Unicorn

Pillow Pets range from $22.00 to $24.99 and they make the best snuggle pillows for home, day care or car. They are very popular, so I'm listing the unicorn here and the dog next.

• My Pillow Pets Dog

Because kids are collecting them this year, this is my second pick. The My Pillow Pet Dog will be a welcomed canine companion for any little girl.

• Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera (Pink)

This is the same digital camera listed above for the boys – only this one's pink. It solves the age old grandparent dilemma – you can actually get one for your grandson and your granddaughter and not be accused of playing favorites since the only difference is the color.

So now you can relax – you've got plenty to pick from. All of the toys are reasonably priced and if you order them online, you won't even have to leave your house to get them.
