A Pep Talk from Kid President to You

Kid president, Robby Novak, couldn’t have said it better.  At the age of 9, he’s talking about something that we, as adults, should ponder.  “The world needs you to stop being boring!  Boring is easy, everybody could be boring, but you’re gooder than that” – Robby Novak, Kid President.

All of us, as kids, had a passion for adventure.  We dreamt of adventures with no borders and the sky was the limit.  We happily went where our imaginations would take us but as we matured from kids to adults, something happened.  We started focusing on just work or homework and didn't leave any room for fun.StressedCredit: http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/images/Emotions_g96-Depressed_Business_Man_p157605.html

Somewhere in between being a kid and being an adult, we lost our passion for adventure.  We lost the courage we had to pursue what we dreamed of and what once brought a sparkle in our eyes, just died slowly as we went through life.

Adventure is something we all need in our lives.  We need to re-live those moments we had as a kid when we would just go where our imagination would take us.  If not, life will just simply pass us by.  So why not stop living as if you’re a mechanical doll where all your movements are already programmed and live a life less ordinary?

Here are some of the reasons why you need adventure in your life:

You relieve your stress

Stress can bring you illness and drain you of your energy.  Find and do activities that are out of your usual routine.  These will actually give you the outlet you need to release your stress.

You learn

As you engage more in adventures, you actually discover things that you wouldn't in your usual routine.

In parties, you’ll be the life of the party. Why? Simply because you have more experience and a lot more to talk about.  You become well-rounded about things.

You make new friends

As you travel, you actually meet people from all walks of life.  This will give you the connection that you don’t get with your “routine”.

Engaging in adventure will sharpen your memory

If you’re ever wondering why you don’t remember your day to day grind whenever you look back in the past, it’s because our brain is wired to remember distinct memories.  Our brains wouldn’t usually remember those things that are monotonous or ordinary.

Lengthens your perception of your life

What do you remember in your life?  Most of us don't remember much.  It all becomes just a blur.  That’s because our perception of life is defined by the memories we make so get out there and make some fantastic memories for yourself.

Gives you time away from the crowd

Unless you’re doing it with a group, adventure usually gives you the break that you need to get away from the crowd.

As you explore the world, you actually explore yourself too.  You’ll be able to test your limitations, strength and weaknesses as you go on adventures.

So what are you waiting for?  Go make your life less ordinary and more adventurous!
