A List of Powerful Herpes Medicine

By | May 6, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

It is estimated that genital herpes virus affects over 50% of the U.S. population and is spreading very fast. By killing the virus at the very first sign of a possible outbreak, the severity and length of the outbreak can be significantly reduced. At the same time, the risk of infecting others close to you will be greatly diminished as well. This is where taking herpes medicine can help. By taking regular dosages of antiviral drugs, you can at least slow the spread of the herpes virus thus allowing yourself to live a normal life even if you are infected with the virus.

There are many different types of herpes alternative medicine, but generally antiviral drugs are probably the most effective against herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections. These drugs inhibit virus replication and can suppress any possible symptom outbreaks but are not a cure for the disease. Medical studies have shown that daily suppressive therapy coupled with herpes medicine has been up to 90% effective in preventing reoccurrences of the disease. These herpes antiviral drugs are designed to shorten the clinical course, decrease possibility of virus transmission and eliminate any established virus latency.

Based on online reviews that I have compiled from sites all over the Internet, I have managed to shortlist 3 herpes medicine that work really well. They are as follows:

  • Acyclovir (Zovirax) – This antiviral cream will help treat cold sores caused by herpes virus infection. Its main ingredient is the antiviral drug Acyclovir which is widely used in the creation of generic medications meant to treat viral infections. While this herpes medicine does not cure the viral infection, it can stop the infection from spreading. This alternative medicine for herpes is usually available in the form of a tablet or a pill.
  • Famvir – This is an oral antiviral herpes medicine that can inhibit viral DNA replication. It is particularly useful for recurrent episodes of genital herpes simplex virus. It is to be taken twice a day for 5 days in a row.
  • Valtrex – This herpes medicine comes in the form of a tablet and is useful for recurring herpes viral outbreaks. To treat cold sores, it is usually taken only once a day.
