If you're lucky enough to be a maid of honor or a bridesmaid then part of your duty is to help the bride as much as possible on her big day. You can do this is numerous ways but you will want to ensure that the vanity table is prepared ahead of time so that she has every opportunity to get ready on time. Here are a few things you will need to do for the big day:

1. prepare a space where the bride will get ready, whether its a standard table or vanity, with a mirror so that she can see her face, veil, headpiece and the upper body when seated. It makes a lot of sense to have a full length mirror in the same room if you have one available.

If you don't have a make up storage organizer then its easy enough to create something that will serve the same purpose. You simply need a large mirror that you can pair with a stool and a suitably sized desk. Cover the table area with a linen cloth to make it look nicer.

2. Its important to ensure that the area to be used is as well lit as possible. You won't want to use fluorescents, but rather something that will give you a nice natural lighting. Remember, if the lighting is not perfect the bride might not realize just how good she looks which could unduly increase her stress levels.

3. Get all the makeup that will be required and lay it out so that it is all easily on hand. Have a nice assortment of foundations, powders and concealers, and waterproof mascara in her favorite color. You will also need a couple of eyeliner pencils, a set of makeup brushes and an eyebrow brush along with some cotton pads and tissues. Makeup remover will also have to be available so we can correct any mistakes.

If she has a small jewelry box then its a good idea to have it laid out with her veil and headpiece nearby. And have a bin near the vanity table where you can easily dispose of tissues and cotton pads.

Even if the bride tells you she's not nervous on her wedding day, she will be, its only natural. Its a good idea if you give her a hand packing her bridal purse so that her has enough of all the odds and ends that might come in handy throughout the day. Tissues, lipstick, face powder, eyeliner, lotion for the hands, a small bottle of perfume should all be in there.
