Psalm 57 in the bible is where I will be writing from this day. If you read this chapter of the book of Psalm you will notice that David is praying persistantly to God, so that he may be delivered from his enemies. Yet, there are a few things in this chapter of Psalm 57 that I would like to point out if I may. Lets take a look at the first verse of Psalm 57, "Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until these calamities have passed by." (Thomas Nelson, Inc.).

Why was David needing protection? This was about the time that David fled from Saul into the caves. David was praying to God asking for his protection and making it known to God that he wanted to stay in the caves (shadow of your wings I will make refuge) until all threats had passed. David was very willing to do anything that God asked of him, and he knows that God will deliver him, if only he believes.

How does David know God will deliver? Simple, David knows that all he needs is Faith in God and God will deliver him from any circumstance. David knows that all he must do is stay close to God and he will be delivered out and protected from all who want to harm him. To many of use today choose not to live on such Faith. And I often wonder why that is. I do not know why, but I do have a few ideas why. All of them may not fit directly to you, but I am sure that at least one of these will.

First, we want to do it ourselves. I know that I have had problems in the past that I refused to ask for anyone's help on, and if I had only went to God at the start then the problem would have went away a lot sooner. Instead, I first tried to handle it myself and when I had exhausted all means of resources trying to solve, then I asked for God's help. After you think about it, it was foolish of me to do that. Even with God there telling me he wanted to help, I would not let him. Have you ever had a friend that was doing something and you were more than willing to help him/her, and this friend refused to allow you to help. How did that make you feel? Did you ended helping when the project was more than your friend could handle? Way to often this how we treat God, yet unlike some people, even after it all blows up in our face, God is still there waiting and willing to help us clean it all up.

Next, lack of Faith. When we are faced with a large or difficult problem to many time we don't go to God. This is when we should be the closest to him. David put his Faith in God even at his scariest moments. Psalm 57 verse 4 says, "My soul is among lions; I lie among the sons of men who are set on fire, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword." (Thomas Nelson, Inc.). If we read this and see how God was willing to deliver David from the lions and the men who were out to kill him then, why on earth would we not be willing to put all our problems in God's hands and allow him to deliver us from them. God is there waiting on us to ask him for help in any situation that we may have. Lack of Faith is a big reason why a lot of people do not ask for his help. We must have a fixed heart set forth to God and He will be more than willing to deliver us from all our problems.

I know that we do not see as many extravagant miracles where people are delivered from a lions pit or from an incinerator, but me must be Faithful to God. I believe that the main reason we do not see these kind of miracles anymore is simply that there is a lack of Faith among believers and non-believers alike. It is my prayer that all of us will have the Faith to believe God will protect us and deliver us from any and all problems that may arise in our lives. We must also remember that bad things will happen to us, and that is when our Faith needs to be the strongest. We should not forget that God is God and he has the power to move mountains, and when we are faced with any kind of trials in our life that is a chance for us to grow spiritually as Christians. So, keep the Faith and never lose it for one day we will be living in that perfect kingdom with our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and our Heavenly Father God Almighty.
