In the human body leg muscles are among the most important tissues that facilitate locomotion. The muscles also facilitate jumping and standing. The leg muscles which are referred to as intrinsic muscles cause different movements of the foot. For example, the anterior muscles such as extensor muscles cause a dorsi-flexion movement at the foot. This is facilitated by muscles such as Tibialis anterior and extensor hallucis longus. Peroneus longus and brevis which are peroneals muscles of the leg cause the eversion movement at the foot. Plantar flexion movement of the foot is caused by the superficial muscle -a layer of the posterior muscles. These include the triceps surae muscles.
