A realistic approach to making money on InfoBarrel

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 1 3

Making money on InfoBarrel without spending every second doing it.

InfoBarrel seems to be flooded with posts about writing 30 articles a day and making $1000s of dollars a month, but is this a realistic goal for everyone? No, obviously not. So what about the writers who are just looking to make a little bit extra every month? Is InfoBarrel a good place to make money?

InfoBarrel is a great place to write, even for those who only have a few hours to spare every week. While it will require a larger investment of time to start raking in the big bucks, even writing online on a part time basis can help you bring in some extra spending money, and who wouldn't like that?

Lets look at some realistic numbers. In general, a reasonable article can be written in 20 to 30 minutes, so it would be easy to find time to write one or two a day, averaging 10 a week with 3-5 hours of work, depending on your typing speed and the length of the article. 40 articles a month wouldn't bring in a lot of revenue, probably only $10 to $15, depending on how popular the topics were, how much you know about SEO and backlinking, etc. However, this number would increase each month as you continued to contribute. Writing an average of 40 articles a month, over the course of a year you may see results such as:

Month 1: 40 articles = $10

Month 2: 80 articles = $20

Month 4: 160 articles = $40

Month 6: 240 articles = $60

Month 12: 480 articles =$120

This adds up to $780 over the course of the year for 160 hours of work (assuming it averages to 20 minutes per piece) or $4.88 per hour. It may not seem like much, but if you factor in the fact that you can do it in your spare time, which you otherwise wouldn't be paid anything for, and the fact that you will continue to make money even if you never write another article after your year is up, InfoBarrel is really a good investment. Also, as the popularity of InfoBarrel increases, the page rank and page views per article will increase as well, bringing in more money that the low numbers assumed here. Signing up for Chitika can also help add a couple dollars to your revenue every month.

Writing 10 articles a week is a very realistic, achievable goal for almost anyone, even a beginner writer, someone new to passive income, writing content for money or new to InfoBarrel. With a bit of tenacity and dedication, anyone can make money writing with InfoBarrel.

Thanks for this article. As a newbie, this gives me something to aim for. 10 articles a week...I'm gonna try!

Hi Chomina, welcome to IB! You seem to have surpassed 10 articles a week so far, way to go!

I always appreciate a practical article with actual numbers. Thanks for the breakdown. As you mentioned, it's sooo important to realize how powerful passive income is. Would you prefer $500/month passive income or $2000/month working 50 hours a week?
