You can use internet explorer to export site table data into microsoft excel. This helps you to do accounting work, compare stats, and check charts easily. If you use internet explorer, and you want to be able to quickly export spreadsheet or form data directly into Microsoft Excel, you can ususally right click on the form and select the option to "export to Excel". If you notice that you do not have this option then follow the steps below.

Things You Will Need

Internet Explorer 8
Microsoft Excel 2003 or 2007

Step 1

Go into your start menu and run: Regedit.exe
This will give you a box for the Registry Editor.

Step 2

Open the folder called:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Internet Explorer MenuExt

Step 3

In the MenuExt folder, there will be a fileDefault. Leave this alone.
Click back on the MenuExt folder and right click to create a new key. "NEW" then "Key"

Step 4

Name this Key Folder Export to Microsoft Excel.

A new default file should appear in this key folder. Double click on it and set its Value data as follows:

For Excel 2003

res://C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOFFICE11EXCEL.EXE/3000

For Excel 2007

res://C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOFFICE12EXCEL.EXE/3000

Step 5

Close out the Registry Editor.

Step 6

Once you have done the steps above you will now be able to open Internet Explorer and browse a Web page containing tabular data, or a form. Right-click on the data and choose "Export to Excel."

Updating IE to allow you to export form data or excel sheets from the web is a simple process. By following the steps above, you should be able to restore this capability to your IE extensions and give yourself the ability to export to excel.
