Adding to Your Christmas Season with a Touch of Christmas Music
As the year dwindles down and Thanksgiving ends, the snow starts falling as bells start jingling and our minds turn to Christmas music. While some may find these jolly songs annoying in October, everyone loves some good Christmas music in early December as the holiday gets ever closer. Between classic Christmas songs which will never grow old to newer creations which add to the holiday cheer, Christmas music is a must at this grand time of year.
We probably all remember when mom would start getting out decorations. The first thing she'd do before anything else would be to pull out the Christmas music records and fill the home with the warmth of music. Dad would whistle and you and your siblings would see who could sing the loudest and merriest as you all worked to set up the Christmas tree.
What a wonderful tradition that you can now pass on to your own children. Your kids will already be in the mood to sing those Christmas songs because shows-like the Wiggles with Greg Page-will start showing Christmas episodes early in the season. Your kids will be begging you to pull out other Christmas music CDs-which of course you won't have any issues doing.
Spend the Christmas holiday singing Christmas music like "Deck the Halls" and "Jingle Bells." Those are just two of the classics that your children will love singing. Don't hold out on teaching your children the rest. Memories are strongly associated with music so you'll be doing your children a great service if you start building memories with music.
In addition to teaching your children new and old Christmas songs you should also take the time to listen to the Christmas music you hear in stores. Yes, they start playing Christmas music a bit early, but at the same time it is kind of nice to hear joyful songs compared to some of the other music out there in the world. Even if you're finished doing your Christmas shopping you should go spend some time in stores basking in the glory of Christmas music during this time of year.
Christmas music has a special place in the world and no matter what we use it for-to assist us in getting into the Christmas spirit, to buoy us up as we set out decorations or even just to build memories-Christmas music will always be there for what we need.

I have always found that certain songs can bring back memories, and there is no shortage of Christmas songs with memories attached. A couple of my favorites are "Hark Hear the Bells" and "Oh Holy Night." I find the music and lyrics in both songs very powerful and moving. I haven't brought out my favorite Christmas CD yet, but I'm about to put it on my iPod right now! Thanks!
