Adjustable Beds

As the Craftmatic pitchman says, "You spend a third of your life in bed so why not make it one of Craftmatic's adjustable beds." Craftmatic is just one of the many brands that now sell adjustable beds. Adjustable beds have been around for many years and do a great job of providing superior sleep to thousands who own own. Electric adjustable beds were first found in hospitals but about 40 years ago bed makers began to market adjustable beds for your home.

They can provide great comfort for all sorts of people with sleep issues. Many people with illnesses and disabilities believe that sleeping on an adjustable bed helps to relieve their symptoms. Patients with acid reflux can elevate their upper bodies helping to alleviate the discomfort for them. It has been said that patients with back pain, arthritis and diseases like multiple sclerosis have been known to find relief for their pain when sleeping on an adjustable bed.

Adjustable beds come in many different makes and models with different types of mattresses and different features. Spring mattresses are still the most common type of mattress for an adjustable bed, but they also come in memory foam, latex foam, and air bed styles. There are many features that can be found on adjustable beds as well. Adjustable beds can come with heaters, massage, and dual mattress styles so that two people sleeping in one bed that have different comfort levels can both be comfortable.

Mattress style is not the only thing to consider when shopping for and adjustable bed. You want to look for one with a quiet motor, you can decide between wireless remote operated beds or remotes with wires. Consider if you will need a back up power source for your bed or not. How will you get the bed back to flat if the power goes out? One thing I fully suggest is buying the frame and the mattress at the same time. Standard mattresses are generally not suited for an adjustable bed frame. Also consider the price.

Prices vary greatly on adjustable beds based on the options that you choose and the brand that you select. There are the Tempur-pedic beds. Tempur-pedic is known for their memory foam mattresses. A Tempur-pedic bed can run as much as $6,000 but the memory foam mattress that comes with a Tempur-pedic can be used on either an adjustable or flat bed. Craftmatic beds come in 4 different models with the top of the line models using the higher end foam and latex mattresses and the lesser expensive beds using coil spring. Sleep Comfort, Select Comfort and GoldenRest are other brands of adjustable beds. GoldenRest manufactures both in home and hospital models. Niagra, Serta, Sealy, Spring Air and Simmons also have adjustable beds in their lines of beds.

Buying the correct size sheets for your adjustable bed can sometimes seem like a tricky job. But the trick is buying deep pocket sheets for adjustable beds. When shopping for sheets for a dual king or dual king you will probably have to buy custom sheets, although some XL twin fitted sheets will work for the dual beds with 1 flat sheet in the bed size. So get the rest you deserve with an adjustable bed.
