Are There Really Benefits of Organic Food?
The organic food industry is a booming enterprise nowadays, ever since many people have found out about the advantages of organic food. With the recurrence of lifestyle diseases derived from unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle, people are becoming more health conscious and most likely to try anything that will benefit their overall wellness.
There are claims that organic food is no better than conventionally produced food (those who are sprayed with insecticides and nourished with chemical fertilizers, or injected with special hormones); denying the difference between the sun kissed and pasture feed food and what you can consider “Franken-food”.
Now, there are many advantages of organic food compared to “Franken-food”, and these you can see with your own eyes. Not only that, you can feel it, smell it, touch it and taste it.
First, organic food does not contain harmful chemicals that you can ingest. Other farm produced crops are grown using chemical fertilizers and are sprayed with pesticides in order to get rid of insects and bugs that “damage” the fruits or vegetables. Intake of these harmful chemicals is detrimental to anybody’s health, for all we know, pesticides are designed to kill living things, and that includes humans. It wouldn’t kill you instantly, but it would definitely damage the cells in your body. Fruits can also absorb toxins and harmful chemicals from artificial fertilizers.
Second, organic food is nature friendly. It is grown using natural fertilizers such as compost or animal excretions like urea or manure. Soil enriched with these natural fertilizers optimizes the nutritional content of organic food. It does not upset the ecosystem that exists in the soil. It has also been found out that crops fertilized with compost or animal manure/urea have lower nitrates.
Third, your food doesn’t look artificial. Have you ever tried to compare a synthetically produced fruit to a fruit which comes straight from a non-genetically modified tree? It looks like plastic and doesn’t even look real. Its smooth surface is not a guarantee that it is healthy to eat because bugs haven’t took a bite on it. It is actually doused with chemical pesticides that you can ingest. Pesticides also prolong the shelf life of such fruits, and this is not good for you.
Fourth, organic food is produced using less energy and it also produces less waste. It means that the production of organic food is energy efficient and it releases less waste to the environment.
Fifth, you can also try raising organic food in your garden. All you need is dedication and determination to turn into a healthier lifestyle. With planting your own organic food crops, you know what goes into your body very well. Yes, you are in control of what you are putting in your body and you are free from sinister chemicals which some farms put into their farm products.
So, all you have to do is enjoy what is already there in the first place. Nature always offers its best for us and all we have to do is trust that nature knows best.
