Airline Mileage Credit Cards
Airline credit cards are a great way to earn frequent flyer miles. There are hundreds of cards out there that can help you earn miles. Look around and find the card that is best for your needs.
Compare Annual Fees
Most frequent flyer card programs will require an annual fee. Compare the fees of the programs that interest you. Find a card with good benefits and a reasonable annual fee. Read the fine print about the terms and conditions of the credit card. Some will nail you with a high annual fee the second year.
Availability of Seats
Look at the blackout policy of each program. Some programs don't allow you to book reward trips on holidays and other high-traffic days. You should be aware of these policies prior to committing to a program.
Do the Math
Look at how many miles you need to rack up for a free flight. Each program is a bit different. You should consider whether you want to save up for a big international ticket or if you want to just get a free domestic trip once in a while. Also, see if your paid flights on the airline give you additional points to go toward future flights.
Pick the Right Airline
You should make sure and pick an airline that works well for you. Look at the airlines that have a large presence in your home airport(s). It is probably unwise to sign up for a frequent flyer card program with an airline that has little or no presence in your area.
Get the Card
After you determine the right card for you, sign up and start using the card. Use your card for as many purchases as possible, taking special care to only use it for legitimate purchases that you would have made anyway. As you continue to make regular purchases with your airline mile credit card, you will rack up points and be well on your way to earning free flights and other airline rewards.
