Alcohol Insomnia

When dealing with a sleep disorder, like insomnia, most are tempted to try out many different ways to get rid of it, ranging from homeopathic remedies, to prescription medication, to earplugs. Alcohol is a seemingly obvious solution that many people try to use to cure their nagging sleep issues but most do not get the results that they were hoping for.

Drinking alcohol makes you sleepy, relaxed, and ready for bed, therefore, we believe that it may make us fall asleep quickly and deeply, though that is not the case, unfortunately. When you attempt to use alcohol to make yourself fall asleep, you only become dehydrated and a victim of alcohol insomnia. You may initially sleep for a few hours, but, after that, you will have dreams that are quite vivid and find yourself tossing and turning for the remainder of the night.

The term alone, alcohol insomnia, should tell you that this is not the answer to your problems and that alcohol is not a likely cure to insomnia and sleep issues. To rid yourself of this problem, do not drink alcohol and your alcohol insomnia will go away for good. Never mix taking sleeping pills with consuming any alcohol as it is dangerous and also not a cure to your insomnia.

Both alcohol and sleeping pills are depressants and aren't safe for your body to take together. Both sides of using this method will make your breathing slow considerably and over-relax your body and your body may not be able to handle it and wake back up.

You could fall into a coma due to the lack of air traveling to your blood cells, all because your breathing has excessively slowed down after consuming too many avenues of depressants. As stated previously, quitting drinking altogether is the best way to keep alcohol insomnia from occurring and it will also prevent you from even needing sleeping pills.

Instead of drinking alcohol at night, before bed, drink a mug of heated up milk or tea which will relax you significantly. Choose a chamomile or fennel tea at your local health food store, but use milk if you cannot find the teas that you are looking for. Your central nervous system will relax and you will fall to sleep a lot easier. These insomnia cures will hopefully keep you from inducing alcohol insomnia while making you rest a bit more peacefully. Also, rid yourself of external stimuli, like light or noise, by employing ear plugs or a sleeping mask before you go to sleep.
