Alternatives To Video Games

By Edited Jul 1, 2016 0 0

Children's toys seem to be very video based these days. They play games on computers, on games consoles - even on their mobile phones. However, there's no particular reason why, if you're shopping for kid's toys, you should consider yourself limited to video games. Here are just a few examples of what's on offer:

Take Apart Toys

One of the best, and most entertaining, ways to find out how stuff works is to take it apart and view the component parts. Putting it back together again, ideally in the same form, adds to the experience.

The Battat take apart toys range has a number of different vehicles - including a bi-lane, a 4 X 4 truck, a crane and a roadster. Each set includes its own mini electric screwdriver with a range of different attachments, which just adds to the fun.

Taking things to bits using power tools. That's pretty much as good as it gets.

These toys are suitable for kids in the range of 3 to 8 years old and will provide hours of fun.

Building Toys

Building stuff up from scratch is every bit as much fun as taking it to pieces. That's why Lego has been a family favorite for decades now.

Obviously, Lego is one of the best known examples of this particular genre of toys - but even simple building block sets will give hours of fun and enjoyment to most children.

Solar Powered Toys

Solar powered toys are very popular these days. They don't require batteries - and that's a big bonus in itself.

They tend to come in two basic formats; solar powered toys which are standard toys but which are solar powered, and solar powered toys which go out of their way to demonstrate the possibilities of, and the working method of, solar power in general.

Board Games

Board games are always popular and can encourage a lot more interaction than video games. The whole family can get round the table and join in the fun.

You can choose from classics such as Monopoly and Scrabble or opt for more modern versions such as Trivial Pursuit or the Settlers of Catan. Which you choose will depend upon your preferences and the age of the players involved - but there's bound to be something suitable for you.

Card Games

Card games are always popular and a good way to encourage interaction. Again, you can choose from classic games or you can opt for more modern equivalents. It doesn't matter too much. The main thing is that everyone can take part and join in the fun.
