Amazon Prime is a membership rewards program from Amazon.com that gives members of the service, along with their family members fast and unlimited shipping for an annual fee of $79.  Other benefits of the Amazon Prime membership is that members also get unlimited movies and television shows streamed instantly through Amazon Instant Video all included in the $79 annual membership fee. So if you were not interested in the Free shipping, the unlimited streaming movies and TV shows might just be worth the $79 annual membership fee. 

Kindle owners can also borrow and read books for free from the Kindle Owner's Lending Library.  Members can take out a book each month and those books have no due dates. Thousands fo selections including some from the New York Times BestSellers list.

The Amazon Prime membership gives you access to  instant, commercial-free and unlimited streaming videos.  The Amazon Student Membership and the regular Amazon Prime membership gives you access to thousands of movies and Tv shows that you can watch right away on Mac, PC, Kindle Fire and hundreds of Internet-based TVs, Blu-ray and other electronic devices that are compatible with Amazon Instant Video. The instant videos, movies and TV shows also come in HD.  The Prime instant videos do have some restrictions: 1) They are only available to members in the United States, 2) The streaming videos cannot be downloaded if you purchase them as streaming, however most instant videos can so be purchased or rented thereby allowing downloads to a compatible device such as the Kindle Fire.

Trial Membership and How To Sign Up

The best way to find out if Amazon Prime is for you, is to sign up for the free trial membership.  You must not have been a member of Amazon Prime within the last 13 months to sign up for the free trial membership. Free trial offers for the program is also available for you during your check out when you purchase regular products.

Your account will not be charged during the trial period but if you choose to keep the service, the credit card on file allows them to automatically upgrade you to a paid membership when the trial ends.

You get the same benefits as regular members of the program. Your family and members of your household can also enjoy your Amazon Prime free trial benefits as well and continue to enjoy the same benefits as you once you upgrade to a paid membership.


What Happens When The Trial Is Over?

If the Amazon Prime free delivery and free movie and TV streaming is to your liking, then just do nothing and your membership will automatically be upgraded from trial to a regular membership with the charge of $79 for the year.  If you do not want the Amazon Prime service, then you can select the "do not upgrade" option in the "Manage Your Prime Membership" section.  You will still be able to get all the benefits until your trial period ends, but your card will not be charged the $79 and you will not be upgraded to regular membership after the trial period.
