Amazon Stepping into a Mine Field

By Edited Jul 29, 2015 1 0

It is a big leap from Amazon to get away from what everyone was accustomed for them being the online giant retailer. Its market remains untouched from competitors’ like eBay as it is the only one playing in their league. But to be honest both Amazon and eBay enjoy the biggest market share when it comes to online shopping. Amazon gets tons of traffic per hour and many translate to sales. The digital business from Amazon is also doing well as each month, millions of eBooks are downloaded from their portal, this is as beneficial to both them and the publishers who get the revenue. Their aggressiveness in business has enabled them to be a giant online retailer. Amazon has known that devices will lead to consumers coming back to their site; therefore they have come up with those amazing eBook Readers that integrates well with their websites. Many customers’ are accustomed to have their kindle tablets for subscription and paying everything online. For instance I have tried using Kindle paper white, and I can attest it is just like reading the normal book. Its difference is ecstatic as this light gadget can carry tons of books at the palm of your hands. There is also less straining with the eyes, when glued to reading a book. The biggest advantage is subscription of any book is just a step click away.

Innovation and market research is what will keep any company ahead from its competitors; they have to continually spend huge capital conducting market research, development of new products and advertisements. Any delay in implementing innovative products will lead to their competitors gaining an upper hand. In Today’s world due to the tough market to crack, the companies may not know what consumer want or will likely buy, therefore conducting market research, will give them a slight idea what they want. Simplicity and innovation is what will make a consumer want to use the product straight after being unboxed. No one really wants to even read the manual, if a market research was conducted as to how many actually reads the product manual, the answer will be to the contrary. Companies like Amazon are trying as much as possible to be innovative by bring amazing products to the consumers. One of those products is their tablets that are catchy and are packed with great specs.

Amazon branching into the mobile phone market caught everyone one by surprise, as it was just announced abruptly that they have come up with this sleek and cool phone called the Amazon fire. They have ventured into a very competitive area; it is like they have decided to step into a field full of mines. Many companies selling phones are really struggling to make sales. The Android and the IOS have dominated the phone software’s claiming casualties like Blackberry OS and Windows OS which are not performing according to expectation, Nokia branded Lumia phones that runs windows 8 OS have not made a big impact in terms of sales. Currently the only companies laughing all the way to the bank are Apple and Samsung which have the biggest market share in Smartphone sales. Majority have either a Samsung or the Iphone, that is why each year when Samsung releases their Galaxy S Phones then Apple responds with just a matter of time. The big two have enjoyed consumer loyalty as their stores are always overflowing with human traffic, wanting to get their hand on the new gadgets. Amazon stepping into this field is like taking a big risk as no one rely knows how things will play out. Their main advantage compared to the others will be for the Amazon fire phones, to integrate with their online store thereby consumers will always be logging in on the go, to subscribe and make purchases. This will translate to more sales and this will bring more profits.
